The Seward Community Foundation is pleased to announce a September mini-grant award going to the Seward Boys and Girls Club. The $500 grant will be used to fund a tutor to provide individualized math instruction in the established Power Hour Program. The Power Hour: Making Minutes Count is a homework help and tutoring program that encourages Club members ages 6 to 12 to become self-directed learners. The Seward Boys and Girls Club currently has 66 members and usually grows to 100 students by year’s end.

Mini-grants from the Seward Community Foundation are available throughout the year. They are a quick method to assist nonprofit organizations and projects in the Seward/Moose Pass communities. The awards are for up to $500 and can be applied for easily with our new online application.

The Seward Community Foundation meets the third Wednesday of each month. Mini-grants submitted online by the preceding Monday are considered. Applications and information can be found at http://sewardcf.org/projects/.
