Playground closing

The Parks Playground on Ballaine and Adams will be closed on 8/19/14 and possibly 8/20/14 due to wasp nests inside the playground. If you have any questions call 224-4055.

Chamber temporarily relocating

Some of the Chamber employees will be temporarily relocating to make way for remodeling. They will return on Dec. 5. The Chamber will be open this week from 10 a.m. til 3 p.m. and next week it will be closed. More information about contact information to come.

RezArt music and stories

Concert at Resurrect Art Coffee House featuring J.J. Hill on the 22nd ofaugust at 7 o’clock. It will be a mixture of live music and fun stories. Come on in and get warm with music and laughs. Tickets are $1.

Chamber appreciation party

All Chamber volunteers are invited to attend the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Party on August 22, 6-8 p.m. at Zudy’s Cafe. Wear your favorite volunteer shirt!

Interpretive sign installation and dedication

August 26, 1:30 p.m. South Johnson Pass Trailhead (MP 32.6 on the Seward Hwy)

Dedication and installation of the L.V. Ray interpretive sign that went missing during road construction a few years ago. L.V. Ray was a 3-time mayor of Seward and the Senate President of the first Alaska Territorial Legislature.

Open burn permits available

Permitted open burning can once again be approved. This includes the use of approved burn barrels. Please contact the Seward Fire Department for any burning related questions within the Seward city limits.

Market coupons available

Senior Farmer Market Coupons are available at Seward Senior Center, Third and Jefferson, for seniors 60 and older. To qualify monthly income must be below $2,248 and for couples, $3,031. The book of $25 Farmer Market Coupons are redeemable at the Grazing Moose in Seward, and many other farmer markets around the state.

KPB auditor guest of Chamber

At the chamber’s membership meeting on Friday, Sept. .5, KPB auditor DeRay Jones will be the speaker.

Senior Center Book on sale

You can pick up a copy of the new Senior Center book, Seward Unleashed, at the Senior Center from Dana Paperman. The cost is $10.

Anchorage Community Band coming to town

The Anchorage Community Band wil be playing with the Seward Community Band on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1:30 at the Seward High School. Tickets will be $5 and available at the door.

Anchorage mayor to speak

On Sept. 19, Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan will be the featured speaker at the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Firefighters to gather in Seward

From Sept. 28 through Oct. 3, the Alaska State Firefigher Annual Conference will be held in Seward.

Historical and museum conference coming
