Snagging nets big returns

Leon Youngblood | The Seward Phoenix LOG

Over the past couple of weeks flocks of anglers have swarmed the shores of Resurrection Bay from McDonald's on Nash Road to Waterfront Park, looking to snag a salmon, Most have succeeded handily as freedom of movement is sometimes restricted due to frequent schools of the returning fish.

On a farther shore, anglers on the edge of Kenai Lake got an early start away from the crowd, as the trout and Dolly Varden season went wide on area lakes this week. Lacking the surefire aspect and appeal of fish in a barrel, there's plenty of satisfaction to be found in the more solitary and challenging pursuit. Not that we recommend go so far as fly fishing.
