SHS Construction

Construction of the current Seward High School was underway in May 1977. The building was completed in the summer of 1978 and went into use with the beginning of the 1978 school year. The formal dedication was held on Oct. 1 in the school's theater. The dedication address was given by Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Don Gilman, who was at one time the principal of Seward High. An open house followed the dedication ceremony, hosted by June Daniel, instructor in the Home Economics Department. Tours of the building were conducted by members of the National Honor Society.
