Seahawks on track for State

Tannen Berry and Nick Zweifel lept to first and second for the 100-meter hurdles in the Southcentral Alaska regional championships Friday in Palmer. Berry also took second in the 300-meter hurdles as Michael Marshall raced to the top spot in the 800-meter prelim. Howie Hubbard hurled the shot put for a third place finish and managed fifth in the discus competition. Zach Martin and Thomas Zweifel triple jumped to fourth and fifth.

Josephine Braun went the distance for the Seahawks ladies taking third place in the 3,200-meter run as Alice Pfeiffenberger finished fifth. Emily Brockman swept to fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and the Seward High School girls relay team placed second in the 4x800-meter event. Laura Kromrey out hurled the competition for first place in discus.

The Seward boys team took third place overall in the 123A small schools division and the girls finished fifth in last week's regions event.

The two-day state championships begin tomorrow at Dimond High School in Anchorage.
