Map puts viewers in middle

Wolfgang Kurtz | The Seward Phoenix LOG

A walk in and walk on map put surveyors in stockings as it carpeted the large community room at the Seward Community Library Museum during a visit by staff from the Anchorage Museum on Saturday. The giant map, the size of a racquetball court, introduced shoegazers to marvels of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding land masses. Museum representatives handed out trivia sheets that tested visitors geographic and topological knowledge or their ability to quickly locate map features. The map had previously spent two days in the Seward Elementary School gym, where most classes were given an opportunity to walk several thousand miles in just a few steps.
