Flurry of activity ends school year

 


The year ends for Seward schoolchildren next week with a busy schedule set for the Seward High School graduating class of 2014. The young adults will first be honored at a baccalaureate service being held at the school. The ceremony, blessing the graduating class, is at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 18 in the SHS auditorium. Graduating seniors, classmates, families, friends, and community are invited to the multi-denominational service hosted by the parents of the senior class.

The finals schedule has been set and Monday, May 19 will see SHS students occupied with testing, graduation preparations and ceremonial activities including the senior breakfast at 8 a.m., graduation practice in the SHS gym at 9:15 a.m., a senior picnic at the Branson Pavilion at noon, the senior parade through downtown at 1:15 p.m., and academic and sports awards at 6:30 p.m., May 18, in the SHS auditorium. Another graduation practice will be at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20 as finals continue and the graduation ceremony is at 7 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium.

All schools end the school year on Wednesday, May 21 with both fifth and sixth graders from Seward Elementary bound for Seward Middle School. For the first time Seward Elementary will start the next school year hosting Pre-K through grade 5 and Seward Middle School will entertain grades 6 through 8.

Field trips and other year-end activities will keep elementary school students busy for the last few days.

Seward Middle School students will attend a year end picnic on their last day.

The first day of school for the 2014-15 year at Seward Schools is Aug.19.
