Plug evacuates city hall

Wolfgang Kurtz | The Seward Phoenix LOG

Late in the day April 22, a tide of gray water swept the corridors of Seward City Hall. Something large had plugged the sewer pipe for the building and experts from the city's Public Works Department spent half of the next day dredging the drains. The flooding, which was contained on the first floor near bathrooms and a service room near the utility counter, required remediation by professionals including the removal of soiled carpeting. About noon on April 23, the building's occupants were finally called back to duty.
