Wolfgang Kurtz | The Seward Phoenix LOG

The compass may feature four cardinal points, but the weather vane on the Seward Founder's Monument need only point either north or south. Like Alaska three seasons – winter, spring and fall – but less one option, the wind only blows in two directions along Resurrection Bay. With continuing wet and blustery weather highly likely, turning to overcast and soggy into next week, a significant amount of wind will be from the south. Otherwise it will be from the north. By the time a sunny day rolls around in around 10 days or so, the pictured clear and warm early spring bliss may be only a distant memory. On the other hand, the bay has been known to make its own weather, independent of NOAA.
