A piggy back race, won by Bernie Filllingim and Tony Cordova, was one of the events during the Seward High School Winter Carnival in March 1973. Other activities were an ice-cube eating contest, tugs of war between the classes, a flag football game, a cross-country ski race, a balloon stomp, a human dog sled race and a snowshoe race.

The carnival was sponsored by the Student Council to raise money, for chairs for the school foyer and a pop machine, by selling donut holes and hot chocolate during the activities

The Carnival was held on the Seward High School grounds Second Avenue, where the AVTEC First Lake Campus is now located.
