SeaLife Center hosts Anchorage celebration.

The fifth annual Alaska SeaLife Center Gala brought together supporters of marine education, research and science as well as wildlife rescue and stewardship. The fundraiser serves to benefit the programs of the center and its partners and recognize prominent contributors.

The stage was also set for the presentation of awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award to Stan Stephens of the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens' Advisory Council, a Stewardship and Sustainability Award to the Pollock Conservation Cooperative Research Center and an Ocean Youth Award to the Pribilof Student Marine Research Team.

They join award winners from last month's Alaska Marine Science Symposium which included the Marine Research Award going to Tom Weingartner with the University of Alaska Fairbanks the Marine Science Outreach Award going to Laurie "Poppy" Benson of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
