Barrier blocks sliding into Bear Creek

Now, a hairpin turn near the Bear Creek weir on Bear Lake Road sports a barricade of concrete Jersey barriers that vehicles can bounce off instead of taking a 20-foot drop to the creek bed.

While not a common sight, an alarming number of vehicles have slid off Bear Lake Road into Bear Creek over the years. Now, the hairpin turn near the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Bear Creek weir sports a barricade of concrete Jersey barriers that vehicles can bounce off instead of taking a 20-foot drop to the creek bed. At one point this winter, there were two vehicles stacked in the creek at the curve near the intersection of Tiehacker Road.
