Sunday, residents took advantage of the record breaking high temperatures on a mostly sunny day to get outside and enjoy the lengthening daylight. Weather watchers could have sworn they saw the official temperature reach 58 degrees on Monday but a record setting 57 ended up on the books. Daily high temperature records were broken on Sunday (45, 1983), Monday (44, 1958) and Tuesday with close calls within a degree or two last Wednesday and Thursday. With the calendar due to turn the page to February, it appears as though winter will return to the area with freezing temperatures returning today and dropping from there. The long range forecast predicts snow by the middle of next week.
