The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Dec. 2

01:02 - Citation for failure to carry insurance issued to Leah Sloan at Seward Highway and North Harbor Street. Verbal warning given for speed.

01:42 - 911 caller from Glacier View was confused, did not know where he was or how to get back to his room. Officers assisted reporting party back to his room.

06:27 - Verbal warning for failure to yield to right-of-way issued on Seward Highway near Three Bears.

08:51 - An officer responded to an off-duty officer’s report of a single vehicle rollover at Dimond and Hemlock.

13:46 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at stop sign issued at Seward Highway and South Harbor Street.

17:50 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given at Ash and Maple.

18:29 - Individual reported multiple fire alarms sounding at Brierwood, a duplex in Questa Woods.

18:43 - 911 caller requested an officer to a yellow house at the end of Ash about unknown trespassers outside the residence. Officers located the residence on Oak and searched the property. Officer reported that everything appeared fine and found no damage to any property or signs of breaking and entering.

21:50 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Vernon Bottenfield on Seward Highway near the Chamber of Commerce. Verbal warning given for speed.

Dec. 3

01:21 - Citation for failure to carry insurance issued to Pamala Parker at Mile 2 Seward Highway. Verbal warning for given for speed.

05:39 - Citation for failure to carry insurance issued to Michelle Wilson at Mile 1 Seward Highway. Verbal warning for given for speed.

05:51 - Citation for speed issued to Jeff Estes at Coolidge and Seward Highway.

10:39 - Fire chief reported that 3200 Dimond Boulevard was issued a burn permit for the day and the next.

11:37 - Individual reported that furniture had been stolen out of one of the units. Officer contacted an individual and he agreed to move all property back into original apartment.

12:00 - Individual reported a motor vehicle accident in the 500 block of Fourth. Officers responded and also contacted Joanne Hoogland the registered owner of the other vehicle involved and issued a citation to Hoogland for driver’s to exercise due care to avoid a collision.

12:41 - 911 call about a male who was conscious and breathing but needing evaluation. Ambulance and SVFD responded.

14:15 - 911 misdial.

15:37 - SAST received a call from caller who said that someone cashed a check addressed to him without his permission.

16:44 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given at Ash and Elm.

16:56 - Citation for failure to stop at a stop sign issued to Paula Cripe-Casey at Ash and Elm.

17:07 - Individual requested an officer after someone rifled through her vehicle. Before an officer could arrive on scene, reporting party phoned back and said that her husband was the culprit and canceled the request.

18:13 - Citation for speed issued to Uriah Rolando on Third near Madison.

20:36 - Verbal warning for headlight requirements given on Seward Highway near Resurrection Boulevard.

21:10 - Individual requested to speak with an officer after reporting that one of his home care providers shut off his phone. Officers met with the reporting party at his residence and concluded that no police action was needed; the phone worked fine. Reporting party was advised to contact his care provider agency.

Dec. 4

00:57 - Caller reported that he was worried about his girlfriend, that she may try to harm herself. Dispatch was unable to reach the girlfriend on her cell phone and she gave her location and agreed to speak with an officer. Officer contacted her in person at Third and Adams. He found that she was safe and allowed her to continue on to her friend’s house.

05:58 - Citation for no proof of insurance issued to Kiana Clemens at Sea Lion and Seward Highway. Verbal warnings given for speed, obstruction of license plate and brake light.

09:41 - 911 caller from SeaView reported that he received third party information about a suicide note that a person had posted to facebook. Officer was unable to locate the subject at her residence but spoke with her mother who said she was talking to her on the phone and all was fine.

10:42 - 911 abandoned call.

10:58 - SVFD advised that Cornerstone at AVTEC dorms, 516 Third, would be working on the alarm system until 5 p.m. and to disregard all alarms.

12:04 - 911 misdial.

14:15 - Individual reported that the transmission in his vehicle went out at Hemlock and Spruce. The reporting party attempted to move vehicle off the road but was unsuccessful. Glacier Towing was scheduled to tow it the next day. Officer flagged vehicle.

19:10 - Individual reported a stack fire at his residence on Second. The fire was controlled.

22:26 - Individual requested an officer about reckless vehicles at the Seward Shipyard Boat Yard/Dry Dock. He advised that there were three vehicles involved: a red truck, a gray or white truck and a small car. One of them hit the fence. The officer advised that the complainant was hostile and refused to give any personal information. Traffic stop was made on a vehicle and the driver confirmed he was in the campground area. Also stopped another driver who also confirmed that he was in the campground area. Both parties were issued warnings for reckless driving and criminal trespass.

Dec. 5

01:01 - Individual requested an officer for an intoxicated male who was passed out. Officer contacted the subject. The subject was helped to room where a roommate took custody of him.

08:15 - Seward Elementary School would be conducting a fire drill.

08:18 - Alaska SeaLife Center would be conducting a fire drill.

10:22 - Officer requested Glacier Towing to impound a vehicle in front of Gateway Apartments that was left an abandoned vehicle notice from in July. Vehicle was removed from area.

14:27 - 911 misdial.

15:20 - Officer responded to a motor vehicle accident with damage in the alley behind the food shelter.

17:31 - Individual reported that her neighbor in Kimberly Court Apartments leaves her 9- and 12-year-old children alone for days at a time. They had been alone for three days at the time of the call. Officer responded.

17:33 - Individual reported a dog loose at the elementary school. It appeared friendly and had a collar. Children were still in the area and the dog acted as if its owner was in the school. The officer did not locate a dog.

19:24 - Trooper arrested John Joseph Soper in Cooper Landing on an Anchorage AST warrant and took him to SCJ.

Dec. 6

00:26 - 911 misdial.

07:59 - 911 misdial.

09:39 - Citation for fail to carry proof insurance issued to Jessie Johnson at Seward Highway and Dairy Hill. Verbal warning for tail lights, fail to wear seat belt and expired registration.

09:50 - Individual reported missing his black iPhone 4S in Seward and needed case number for cell carrier.

10:55 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Alaska SeaLife Center for a male with a laceration to the forehead. SVAC/SVFD dispatched.

16:14 - Individual turned in medication for destruction.

22:36 - Earthquake: Magnitude 5.4, 120 miles southwest of Kodiak Island and 355 miles southwest of Anchorage, depth 45 miles. No tsunami expected.

Dec. 7

07:50 - Earthquake: Magnitude 5.3, 75 miles southeast of Chignik. No tsunami expected

08:07 - Individual from Salmon Creek Trailer Park reported that her furnace had been leaking diesel and smoking in the night. They turned it off but were concerned. BCVFD was notified and was responding.

08:45 - PSMCC advised of a medical transport arriving at the airport at 10:00. SVAC notified.

22:12 - Individual reported that her black lab and brown lab got loose and were running around Fifth and Sixth. Reporting party requested that she be contacted in the event that someone calls them in.

22:12 - 911 caller requested an officer to Little Bear Mountain Apartments for a domestic dispute. Officers responded and contacted Nolan Ogle-Endresen and a female. Ogle-Endresen was arrested on two Soldotna AST warrants and taken to SCJ.

22:39 - 911 misdial.

Dec. 8

00:45 - Officer contacted an individual at Alaska SeaLife Center parking lot. She was advised of her suspended operator’s license status. Passenger was advised he was too intoxicated to drive.

11:46 - Verbal warning for speed given to at Third and A.

14:33 - 911 misdial

15:00 - Individual from a residence on Second advised that someone was pounding on her door and when she went to answer it no one was there.

20:47 - Individual requested an officer to the 200 block of Third for several people who were being loud. Officer contacted two people. One was given a disorderly conduct warning.
