The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Nov. 18

05:20 - Individual reported an alarm sounding at the AVTEC Applied Technologies building. Contact was made with the AVTEC dorm attendant who provided the phone number for the on-call maintenance person.

11:00 - Individual turned in a found purple high impact Magna adult bicycle.

11:18 - Individual reported an active fire in the boiler room at Metco.

12:31 - 911 caller reported a vehicle fire at residence on Bear Paw Circle.

17:07 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given at Evergreen and Ash.

17:16 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given at Elm and Ash.

17:58 - BCVFD was requested to SPS for traffic control after a semi-truck broke down in the roadways. SAST advised.

20:49 - Individual requested an officer to Nash Road about a dispute between her mother-in-law and brother-in-law. Caller was transferred to SAST.

Nov. 19

00:49 - Verbal warning for speed given on Seward Highway.

02:29 - The officer on patrol noticed an alarm at the AVTEC mechanic shop and could see a strobe light inside. AVTEC was notified and was en route to shut the alarm off. SVFD also notified. Individual said that they were having trouble with the alarm and that it went off twice the day before.

04:16 - Verbal warning for brake light and speed given Mile 2.5 Seward Highway.

08:00 - Individual reported that water was freezing and almost to road level at the Phoenix and Chiswell culverts.

11:15 - 911 misdial.

11:26 - Yukon Fire advised that they would be testing the fire alarms at the Holiday Inn and would call when finished.

14:17 - Yukon Fire advised that they would be testing the fire alarm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and would call when finished.

15:43 - Multiple callers reported an intoxicated male in the middle of the road near Mile 4 Seward Highway. SAST was notified and a trooper was dispatched. The subject was taken to SCJ and placed into protective custody.

17:03 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given in the 2400 block of Oak.

17:14 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given at Maple and Ash.

17:24 - Citation issued for failure to stop at a stop sign to Brian Weimar at Cedar and Ash. Verbal warning was given for failure to carry driver’s license.

18:19 - Verbal warning for headlight given on Seward Highway near Sea Lion.

18:31 - Verbal warning for failure to illuminate head lights after dark given at Fourth and C.

Nov. 20

01:54 - Verbal warning for broken tail light given at Mile 1 Seward Highway.

04:12 - ACS advised that cell service in the Seward area may be down for several hours while they were dealing with an event.

08:37 - Individual reported a possible stolen vehicle in the Seward area. Location of vehicle was outside of city limits and the reporting party was referred to SAST.

08:46 - SCCC caller advised that they would be working with the fire alarm system and would call when finished.

13:49 - Individual reported seeing a black Dodge with two intoxicated males driving between City Express and Salmon Creek area.

15:05 - Two 911 misdials.

15:22 - Fire officer advised that they would be working on the alarm system at the senior center and to disregard. Would call when testing complete.

17:31 - SCCC advised that the fire alarm testing had been completed.

19:29 - Individual reported that the flooding on Second had gotten worse and water was running down the street.

Nov. 21

01:15 - 911 caller requested an ambulance for a male who was not breathing, possible heart attack at residence on Adams. SVAC/SVFD dispatched. Officers arrived on scene with AED and assisted until responders arrived. Patient transported to PSMCC.

02:17 - PSMCC called on administration phone and requested additional responders to assist with CPR at hospital. Fire officer was contacted and requested tone out. SVFD was toned out and responded to PSMCC.

10:15 - SCCC advised that they would be doing alarm testing and would call when finished.

11:10 - Individual requested an ambulance to residence on Dimond for an unexpected home death. Officer responded.

13:51 - 911 misdial.

16:11 - Individual requested an officer to Kimberly Court Apartments about a subject being at that location. Reporting party advised that the subject was not supposed to be on the property. Before the officers arrival, the reporting party called back to cancel, advising that the subject was leaving

17:28 - Verbal warning for tail lights and failure to stop at a stop sign given at Third and Bayside Apartments.

Nov. 22

06:01 - Ambulance requested by SAST to Laughlin Way for female with knee and neck pain, and a male with possible head injury from an earlier car accident. BCVFD/SVAC dispatched. Reported very poor road conditions.

07:06 - Hotel Seward reported noticing a door open to the building next to them, formerly the 1st Video, which seemed suspicious. Upon arrival at building officer found door to be open but building was secure.

08:38 - SCCC advised that they would be testing the alarm system and would call when finished.

11:31 - Numerous callers reported a power outage from Lowell Point to Moose Pass. Electric and water/sewage crews called out. Power outage included entire Kenai Peninsula.

12:44 - Fire officer responded to a report that the fire alarm was sounding at the school.

14:14 - 911 caller reported a female was having difficulty breathing.

15:28 - 911 abandoned call.

17:18 - SAST requested medics to respond to South White Road in reference to a 911 call they received from a young child. SAST canceled the request shortly afterwards.

20:22 - Trooper arrested Chantz Gillman on a SAST warrant, original charge DWLR, and took him to SCJ.

21:10 - Individual reported that a vehicle was heading southbound on the Seward Highway and was swerving all over the road. SAST advised.

21:20 - Trooper arrested Darren Hootch at the Pit Bar on an Anchorage AST Judicial warrant and took him to SCJ. SPD officer requested an agency assist case after assisting the trooper with evidence.
