Cross-country teams from throughout Southcentral Alaska gathered at Seward High School for the regions competition on Saturday. Following hard on the heels of the Frank Dieckgraeff Invitational, this was the second major running event to grace the Metco trails in as many weeks. The weather was warm and sunny as 15 teams from Kodiak to Wasilla warmed up on the SHS fields.

Grace Christian took first place across the board in their inspirational Run for Joy jerseys. Individual achievements included first place finishes for Allie Ostrander of Kenai Central and Levi Thomet of Kodiak. Seward Seahawks boys and girls teams took fourth place each, which set them on the track for the state championships at Bartlett High School on Saturday.

Alice Pfeiffenberger was the Seahawks girls top finisher in 14th place and Michael Moore set the pace for the boys with a fourth place finish.
