The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

May 20

00:11 - Caller from Safeway reported that they had a false fire alarm earlier in the day. He advised that the alarm had been reset but their elevator was now not working and a light was illuminated indicating it needed to be reset by the fire department. On duty SVFD officer responded. He was unable to correct the problem and instructed the managers to contact their corporate office for assistance.

01:04 - Verbal warning for expired registration issued Resurrection South campground.

01:05 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Third and Jefferson.

01:32 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Mile 1 Nash Road for a 55-year-old man with severe lower back pain that prevented him from moving. SVAC and BCVFD dispatched.

01:49 - Earthquake: Magnitude 6.8, 44.7 south 81.1 west, depth of 6 miles. No tsunami danger for Alaska.

01:59 - Verbal warning for camping where prohibited issued to three subjects in a vehicle parked at Dieckgraeff Road and Dimond.

03:48 - Individual advised that he had been called to pick up someone near the culvert but had heard that a fight occurred there and he was not going to go. Officer contacted involved parties. They advised that the other subject involved was in a tent in the woods near the pumphouse at Railway and Lowell Point Road. Neither of the parties wished to press charges.

10:18 - Seward Ship’s Dry Dock advised that they had a moose that charged into the fenced area, ran around, collapsed and died. Fish and Wildlife requested that the officer take care of it unless there was something suspicious. Officer responded and someone from the roadkill list responded.

11:21 - Individual requested to speak with an officer about some identity theft.

12:04 - SVFD/SVAC dispatched to the high school for 16-year-old girl having a seizure.

1341 - 911 misdial.

13:52 - Caller advised that she was having a problem with getting her child back from a visit. She spoke with an officer and was advised to contact the court and OCS for assistance.

13:45 - AST arrested Colin Krieger for eluding and reckless driving, and taken to SCJ for booking.

16:08 - 911 misdial

19:02 - Officer conducted a civil standby for female retrieving her child from the father on Bear Drive.

20:50 - Verbal warning for speed issued in the 300 block of Third.

May 21

00:30 - Verbal warning for speed and failure to stop at a stop sign given on Fourth by the boat launch.

01:08 - Individual from PSMCC reported that a patient was being released, but that his PBT was .318 and the doctor did not believe he would be able to care for himself. Officer placed the subject into protective custody and transported to SCJ.

09:32 - Caller from Parking advised that a vehicle was in the parking lot covered with a tarp. Owner, Hertz Rental, was advised.

09:53 - Caller requested an officer to check on two vehicles at the corner of Second and B, because they created a hazard for other vehicles turning onto Second. Officer advised they were parked legally.

10:14 - Caller advised that he and a friend were going on to Mount Marathon and would be back by 15:00.

10:30 - Case number issued to an officer for a follow up for UAA.

11:24 - Fire chief requested an officer for case evidence for the fatal fire that occurred at Seward Ship’s area.

11:34 - Individual from Seward Fisheries spoke with an officer about an employee who had not been seen since the weekend. Subject called from Anchorage and was fine.

14:04 - Caller advised that a truck pulled out of Metco and almost hit her.

14:08 - Caller advised that he saw a group of juveniles who may have been drinking a 40-ounce beer.

14:48 - 911 misdial.

16:58 - Caller from SAST gave a REDDI report on a green Chevy Blazer with a black cargo carrier on the trunk, swerving all over the road. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

18:03 - 911 misdial.

20:17 - Individual reported a vehicle sticking out of its parking space on Fifth. Officer found vehicle not to be in violation.

21:22 - 911 caller advised that she had been attacked by a male named Bud. Officer contacted reporting party near the Marina Motel and she refused to press charges.

May 22

00:34 - Individual reported that a vehicle was driving 25 mph in the 45 mph zone and swerving across the fog line. The vehicle had been northbound on the Seward Highway and was last seen turning onto Nash Road. Officer contacted the vehicle at Mile 2.5 Nash Road. The driver was not intoxicated but was lost and trying to find the way back to Anchorage.

08:41 - Controlled burn authorized for burn barrel and pit in the 1800 block of Jesse Lee Drive.

09:30 - Fire drill held at the elementary school

11:38 - SCCC advised that they would be setting off some alarms. Done at 13:02.

13:15 - Individual advised that they would be working at the end of the airport at night using ground radar.

16:21 - Individual advised of a moose in the road at Mile 4.5 Nash Road. Officer was unable to locate a moose along the road.

18:16 - 911 caller advised that a transformer at around Mile 24 Seward Highway near the Trail River Greenhouse blew out.

18:25 - Individual advised of a power outage at Mile 24 and of a tree that fell on a power line.

18:27 - Multiple calls received advising of a power outage at Mile 24 Seward Highway.

18:35 - Individual requested an ambulance to transport a resident at Raven Lodge, Mountain Haven who had been experiencing violent episodes and bouts of self harm.

19:39 - Officer responded to a report of an intoxicated woman outside of Safeway. Officer was advised by bystanders that the woman left in a cab.

19:53 - 911 caller requested to Jefferson Street near the American Legion for an unconscious male who fell on his bicycle.

20:04 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign issued at Third and Railway.

20:37 - SAST advised SPD of a group of intoxicated campers who left Ptarmigan Campgrounds to buy more alcohol and might be headed to Seward.

23:12 - Officers responded to report that a group of six people were partying and disturbing fellow campers at Marathon Campground. Officers advised the group to keep their noise down.

23:54 - Individual advised that a pit bull with a leash and harness but no tags, jumped into her truck. She was unable to get the dog out of the truck. Officer responded. The dog was dropped off at the animal shelter.

May 23

00:11 - Verbal warning for a headlight out issued at Third and Madison.

03:26 - Officer responded to a report that an alarm somewhere between Subway and Bakery was sounding. Officer advised it was a freezer alarm.

03:56 - 911 caller requested officer to Marina Motel for an intoxicated male. Officer issued disorderly conduct warnings to caller and subject.

04:40 - 911 caller requested officer to Marina Motel for an assault. Officer advised assault report was unfounded.

07:00 - Parking warning issued at Third and Washington.

09:19 - Earthquake: Preliminary magnitude 7.4, south of the Fiji Islands, depth 129 miles. No tsunami was expected.

12:56 - Verbal warning for no left taillight or blinker and for obstructed view issued at Seward Highway and Nash Road.

13:08 - Earthquake: Preliminary magnitude 6.5, Tonga Islands, depth 89 miles, no tsunami.

13:54 - ARRC caller advised that one of their white Expeditions was apparently taken by a female. The vehicle was found parked at the terminal and had been driven by an employee and parked there the day before.

16:29 - SAST advised of a Blue Dodge Dakota extended cab swerving southbound on the Seward Highway just past Mile 38.

16:50 - Individual advised of a flat bed pickup with a trailer headed southbound on the Seward Highway which swerved into the opposite lane.

17:06 - Verbal warning for speed issued on Seward Highway in front of Three Bears.

18:44 - Individual requested an officer to Kimberly Court after for a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Reporting party described the vehicle as an Explorer, golden in color with two passengers. Officer contacted the passengers in who advised they’ were visiting a friend who lives in the apartments, but sleep in the vehicle.

18:50 - 911 misdial.

19:11 - Officer responded to a request from Marina Motel to assist in removing someone from a room. Subjects left the room upon request. Jaime Doleman was indefinitely trespassed from the motel.

20:04 - 911 caller requested an officer to Gateway Apartments after her ex-boyfriend refused to leave. Subject left before the officer arrived, but was contacted elsewhere.

21:55 - Earthquake: Magnitude 8.2, depth 385 miles, in the Sea of Okhotsk. No tsunami was expected.

21:59 - Verbal warning for passing in a no passing zone and failure to provide proof of registration issued at Fourth and A.

22:18 - Off duty officer advised of a dark four door sedan going 75 to 80 mph down the Seward Highway towards town. Vehicle last seen near Bear Lake Road. At 22:21 an officer stopped a vehicle on Seward Highway near Sea Lion for speed. Bedri Dubed issued a citation for speed and verbal warnings for negligent driving, failure to provide proof of registration and failure to carry license.

22:31 - Officer responded to a request for an officer to Terry’s Fish and Chips for a hostile intoxicated male. Wilfred Pavloff arrested for Assault DV and transported to SCJ.

23:07 - Off duty officer advised of a vehicle leaving Seward Fisheries with numerous pallets possibly headed towards SMIC area. Officer contacted a juvenile subject with pallets and advised him to return them to the owner.

23:42 - Officer responded to a request from the Breeze Inn for a male who had been sleeping in a vehicle in the parking lot for two days. Officer made contact with the driver who was a guest at the hotel.

23:44 - Verbal warning for speed issued on Third near Wells Fargo.

May 24

01:44 - State trooper arrested Michael Adams for DUI in Cooper Landing and transported him to SCJ.

07:15 - Earthquake: Sea of Okhotsk, 6.5 magnitude. No tsunami was expected.

08:01 - 911 misdial.

10:00 - Officer responded to a report of a tent next to Jesse Lee Home. Officer was unable to locate anyone in the tent.

11:39 - 911 system check from fire marshal at Fort Wayne.

11:51 - 911 misdial.

12:51 - Officer responded to a complaint that a vehicle was blocking the entrance to his office. Officer contacted the registered owner and she agreed to move the vehicle.

14:00 - Individual reported her son’s Samsung Galaxy II tablet went missing from the high school.

14:38 - 911 caller requested medics to the M/V Polar Bear, 50 feet off the SMIC area, for a 48-year-old male with crushing injuries.

14:49 - Officer requested case number for theft at Brown & Hawkins.

15:17 - Individual reported someone leaving items on their door.

16:24 - Individual advised of an intoxicated woman on Bayside property who refused to leave, ever after a cab was called for her. Reporting party then advised she walked down Van Buren towards Third. Officer was unable to locate her.

16:24 - Individual advised of an intoxicated woman getting into a vehicle and driving northbound on Third. Officer stopped the vehicle near Bear Drive and found the driver to be sober.

16:51 - Individual left contact information in case anyone reported that their vehicle was hit in front of Harbor View Inn.

16:54 - 911 caller reported a grass fire at 274801 Seward Highway.

20:14 - SAST requested an officer to True Value to assist a Forest Service unit. Officer contacted an intoxicated female. Female was taken to the hospital for medical clearance then transported to SCJ for protective custody.

20:35 - 911 misdial.

20:50 - 911 caller advised that her intoxicated boyfriend was threatening to shoot himself in her apartment on Caines Street. Before officers could arrive, male took off on foot. Officers were speaking with the reporting party at her residence when the boyfriend returned. He was arrested for Assault IV DV and transported to SCJ.
