Memorial Day visitors signify season

Campsites bloom like dandelions along Waterfront Park in Seward.

Campsites bloom like dandelions as Seward’s Waterfront Park begins its inexorable increase in tenancy to full occupation. From a few hardy RVers that sprouted early a couple of weeks ago, the carpet of campers, travel trailers, fifth-wheels, heavy pushers and VW micro buses is spreading. RV parks at the edge of civilization around Bear Creek are also seeing the first blossoms of the summer season. With ball fields prepped and open for the season and Forest Acres campground opened last week, the final barrier to total recreation is the Spring Creek Campground, due to open June 17.
