Vaughn Sherman at his presentation, discussion and signing for his new book “Sea Travels - Memoirs of a 20th Century Master Mariner.” The Saturday afternoon event at Seward Community Library Museum was well attended as Sherman gave an in depth preview of the story of a mariner, J. Holger Christensen, who endured rigorous conditions in unforgiving climates. The book also highlights the evolution of the maritime industry in a rapidly changing world during the early half of the 20th century. Sherman has had a storied career as a boat operator in Alaska, CIA operations operator and fisheries biologist. He is an almost full time author and co-owns a small boutique press out of his present home port of Edmonds, Wash.
