The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested, summoned or issued citations are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Feb. 24

22:45 - Individual reported that he lost his wallet containing cards and approximately $300. He stated that he lost it the night of Feb. 23 while he was out drinking and most likely left it in one of the taxis.

Feb. 25

11:34 - Individual reported that a male suspect took his property from Eagle Lane.

13:54 - Elementary school conducted a fire drill.

14:05 - Individual advised that she was working on getting her vehicle moved from Third and Van Buren by Al’s Patty Wagon.

14:22 - Street closed signs posted on Fourth from Adams to Railway.

14:32 - Individual reported that a non-handicapped driver parked in the handicap space at Essential One. Individual also advised that the vehicle had left the area.

19:13 - Citation for speed issued to Thomas Morgan on Third at Bayside Apartments.

19:36 - Verbal warning for tail light out given on Seward Highway at Coolidge.

22:14 - Individual reported dogs barking in the area of Second between Monroe and Madison.

23:19 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Brenton Meier on Seward Highway at Nash Road.

Feb. 26

04:08 - Parking citation for parking where marked prohibited for snow removal issued to vehicles parked in the 200 block of Fourth.

10:53 - SAST reported a single vehicle rollover with possible injury to the driver at Mile 33 Seward Highway

12:16 - 911 misdial.

13:34 - AKTWC reported a 4.4 earthquake 50 miles southwest of Cape Yakataga. No tsunami was expected.

14:54 - Individual reported an oversized bus parked on Sixth. Owner of the bus, PSMCC, was advised to have the driver move the bus.

15:12 - Individual reported that someone broke into his apartment on Third.

15:27 - Alaska Railroad advised that a train almost hit three kids riding snowmachines near Stoney Creek as the train was traveling southbound.

16:03 - 911 misdial.

17:45 - Citation for expired registration and no proof of insurance issued to Kandi Strickland on Seward Highway at Three Bears.

18:09 - Citation for no seat belt issued to Leon Anderson on Third at Jefferson. Verbal warning issued for no front plate displayed, brake and taillights out.

18:33 - Verbal warning for brake light out given on Adams by the library.

18:35 - Resident reported Forest Acres has a very strong odor of burning coal.

20:21 - Verbal warning for brake light out issued on Adams at Brownell.

Feb. 27

09:41 - 911 caller from the high school wanted to talk to someone about being harassed. School resource officer was advised.

10:02 - Ambulance requested to the airport to pick up Lifeflight crew. SVAC dispatched.

10:35 - Individual reported that a teenager was smoking near the school at the corner of Benson. School resource officer advised that she was 19 years old and all was OK.

16:32 - 911 misdial.

17:52 - Individual reported that she had just been involved in a motor vehicle accident with damage at Dairy Hill and advised that the other vehicle left the scene. She reported that the suspect’s vehicle was a white car. The approximate amount of damages was under $1,000.

21:24 - 911 misdial.

22:11 - Verbal warning for speed given at Third and D.

Feb. 28

02:13 - Individual advised of a Husky running loose near the Culinary Arts School on Fourth.

05:18 - Earthquake occurred 160 miles southwest of Petropavlovsk Kamchatka with a magnitude of 6.9 and a depth of 29 miles. No tsunami was expected.

09:55 - Ambulance requested to transport Guardian Flight Crew at the airport. SVAC dispatched.

11:20 - SAST reported a motor vehicle accident at Mile 26 Seward Highway. Trooper was on the scene. MPVFD/SVAC/BCVFD dispatched.

13:33 - Ambulance requested to Safeway for a male having a seizure. SVAC/SVFD dispatched.

15:27 - 911 misdial.

16:53 - Joseph Dotomain was served a subpoena at Christo’s.

17:48 - SAST requested officer to residence on Nash Road. 911 caller stated that he was, “Having a…..” and then the line went dead. Officer responded. SVAC/BCVFD were both dispatched and staged off site till officer secured the scene.

19:31 - Individual reported a gold color car driving 5 miles per hour at Fifth and B.

21:20 - Officer advised that new Engine 4 was in service as Feb. 28.

March 1

04:33 - Earthquake occurred 170 miles southwest of Petropavlovsk Kamchatka with a magnitude of 6.7 at a depth of 21 miles. No tsunami was expected.

10:26 - Ambulance requested to Bear Drive for a female who fell in the bathroom. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

15:32 - Ambulance requested to Bayside Apartments for a female having a seizure. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

16:42 - 911 misdial.

20:54 - Verbal warning for headlight out given at Seward Highway and North Harbor.

21:11 - Verbal warning for driving with parking lights only given on Third at AVTEC.

March 2

03:28 - SAST requested an officer to Polar Seafoods, at Mile 2 Nash Road, to assist a trooper with a 911 disturbance call. Individual reported that an intoxicated man was going crazy and assaulting people. SAST advised that there were approximately 30 people. Officers responded and requested ambulance to stage. Officers then contacted suspect Kenneth Woodard. Trooper arrested Woodard for Assault IV DV and transported him to SCJ. The victim was transported back to his home.

07:52 - PSMCC requested a flight crew transport from the airport to the hospital in back.

10:15 - Polar Sea Foods reported a red and white van missing from their bunkhouse. The bunkhouse is in AST area so they were given AST’s number. Officer was advised and asked to keep an eye out here in the Seward area.

12:12 - Individual reported a male screaming and throwing things at someone, possibly a child, in Bayview Apartments. Officer contacted the subject. After investigation officer found that the subject had been arguing with someone on the phone.

13:46 - Individual reported at the station that she was just involved in an motor vehicle accident with damage in the Safeway parking lot. She also advised that her and the other driver had exchanged information.

15:01 - Individual reported that several intoxicated individuals at the pavilion were belligerent with cab drivers. Officers contacted the individuals who were both intoxicated but were just waiting for a cab doing nothing wrong.

17:00 - Individual requested a welfare check on his daughter at a residence on Bear Drive. Officer spoke with the individual and informed him that it was a civil matter.

19:44 - 911 misdial.

23:46 - 911 misdial.

March 3

01:56 - Individual requested an officer to the Yukon Bar because two males were refusing to pay. Officers responded and the individuals left in a cab after paying their tab.

10:00 - Individual reported that she was just threatened at her residence on Jefferson Street by a male. Officer spoke with individual and found that the male had been pounding on her door demanding money for a civil issue. Officer attempted to contact male but was unable to locate him.

12:17 - Individual reported large amounts of smoke coming from the base of a chimney at Harbor Light Condos.

12:56 - Individual advised that she would be collecting belongings from residence at Bayside Apartments.

14:11 - Individual reported that she lost her brown and blue female’s wallet at Tony’s Bar on March 1. The wallet contained an ID card, debit card and $14 in cash.

14:28 - Officer conducted a civil stand y at Bear Drive for a child custody issue. Officer advised both parties to contact the court for custody issues.

14:27 - 911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident with damage in the Safeway Parking lot. Officer responded.
