Two crowns for Seavey mushers

Mitch Seavey, of Seward’s Seavey mushing clan, took home the crown and $7,000 in Tustumena 200 sled dog race on Sunday with a time of 30 hours and 7 minutes. And his son, Conway Seavey hit the top mark in the Tustumena 100. Mitch was the champion of the Iditarod in 2004.

Travis Beals, of Seward, came in at a respectable eighth place in the T200.

The Tustumena 200 course runs from Kasilof on the west side of the Kenai Peninsula to Homer. The Iditarod qualifier race began in 1984.
