Seward Postmaster Jerry D. Nassen and Alaska SeaLife Center mascot Professor Tuff Ted Puffin (also know as “Tuffy”) showed off the original artwork for the new 86 cent Tufted Puffin stamp. The center hosted the United States Postal Service First Day of Issue ceremony on Jan. 23 and there were plenty of regular size stamps also available. A large crowd was present to participate in the philatelic ritual including collectors from the Alaska Philatelic Society (APS). Postal employees provided first day of issue cancellations and the APS provided collector’s edition postcards to accompany the stamp.
