The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department.

Nov. 6

00:18 - Officer stopped a vehicle in Bayside Apartments southern parking lot for expired out-of-state registration. Officer had contacted the driver before for the same reason and was attempting to determine if the driver had taken any steps to correct the issue. The driver pointed out a temporary tag in the window that was difficult to see because of window tint and everything was fine.

02:22 - Caller reported that she received harassing phone calls from a named subject.

02:51 - Officer responded to a SAST call for assistance at Mile 3.75 Seward Highway with an intoxicated male who stated that he was going to start the deck of a residence on fire and was going to shoot himself if the troopers came. Trooper and SPD officer contacted the subject, placed him in protective custody and transported him to SCJ.

07:25 - Officer requested a case for Attempted MICS II and a MICS IV at the middle school.

12:54 - Officer responded to a request for an officer to stand by while she served an eviction notice on Fourth.

13:20 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Coolidge.

13:45 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

14:15 - Individual picked up his wallet that had been found and turned into SPD.

14:15 - Individual picked up his back pack that had been found and turned into SPD.

15:55 - Verbal warnings for failure to illuminate headlights and having one headlight out issued at Seward Highway and Nash Road.

17:37 - Officer responded to a report that a green pickup almost ran into a vehicle at Pacific Park Apartments. Officer was unable to contact subject vehicle.

18:46 - 911 misdial.

20:06 - Officer responded to a report that a female in front of reporting party at the register at Safeway smelled of alcohol and subsequently drove a vehicle in an unknown direction. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Nov. 7

00:24 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Third and Van Buren.

05:12 - Officer discovered that a door at the new library was open. Officer determined that the wind must have blown it open.

07:36 - Earthquake, preliminary magnitude 7.5, near the coast of Chiapas, Mexico at a depth 21 miles. No tsunami alert issued for this area.

12:14 - Citation for speed issued to Christopher Kobus on the Seward Highway by the Air Force Rec Camp.

15:44 - Officer spoke with an individual about her report that a subject was harassing her on Facebook.

16:00 - Individual turned in a wallet that they found.

18:35 - Officer responded to a request from the Holiday Inn Express about an intoxicated female who was not a guest, but jumped into the swimming pool. Officer contacted the subject.

19:54 - Ambulance requested to Thorn’s for a male having a seizure.

20:19 - Officer responded to a report of three males drinking at the south boat launch. Officer contacted three males who were not drinking, but jumping into the water getting ready for the Polar Bear Jump.

21:05 - 911 caller reported that an intoxicated male walked out in front of him on Third next to Wells Fargo. Officer was unable to locate the subject.

Nov. 8

06:59 - Paul Pacheco arrested at Three Bears on a SAST Warrant ($1,000, FTA OC DWLS, DWLS and Failure To Insure Vehicle) and transported to SCJ. Vehicle left at Three Bears.

07:07 - Verbal warning for taillights out issued on Dairy Lane.

07:32 - LG cell phone found at the library was turned in.

11:57 - Aaron L. Flug arrested on a Soldotna AST warrant for OC/Harassment. No bail, serve 5 days for FTC with 40 hours of community work service.

21:37 - Verbal warning for headlight issued at Third and Monroe.

Nov. 9

00:42 - Verbal warning for failure to stay within the lines issued at Seward Highway and Exit Glacier Road.

08:19 - SVAC dispatched on a PSMC request for a crew to pick up the crew at the airport.

09:00 - Individual requested to talk to an officer about a situation that occurred at the apartment complex where he lives.

12:30 - Property returned to an individual.

13:30 - Officer made contact with a subject in the parking lot at Safeway.

14:30 - Individual from Blazy Construction advised that a red/burgundy mini van with two males stopped at the Old Solly’s building, took traffic signs and left the area. An officer checked the area with negative results. A short time later the signs were found back at the site.

15:35 - Individual reported that he lost his Samsung cell phone.

15:44 - Citation for speed issued to Sandra Mehojah at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

18:25 - Citation for speed issued to Denise Cerniglia at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

Nov. 10

01:14 - Officer responded to a report of an intoxicated person leaving the Yukon, entering a red SUV and driving north on Fourth. Officer arrested Christopher Mattoon at Metco for DUI. Mattoon cited for proof of insurance and transported to SCJ.

01:20 - Officer responded to a report of an intoxicated woman leaving the Yukon and driving towards the harbor in a silver SUV, unknown plate. Officer arrested Anne Allen on Fourth at Chinook’s for DUI and transported her to SCJ.

08:25 - Officer responded to a report of a rock in the road at the cliffs on Nash Road. Officer requested that the street department be called to remove the rock.

14:00 - Caller from American Lenders advised that he had just repossessed a vehicle from in front of Alaska SeaLife Center.

14:30 - Individual reported a motor vehicle accident with damage at Leirer Road and Seward Highway.

18:39 - SAST reported a full size yellow bus driving approximately 75 mph just south of Mile 36 Seward Highway and headed toward Seward with children on board.

Nov. 11

01:03 - Caller reported that intoxicated men were outside Christo’s fighting and kicking a newspaper stand. Officers responded but the subjects were no longer in the area.

01:13 - Verbal warning for inoperative brake light issued at Jesse Lee and Bear Drive.

01:50 - Abandoned vehicle notice left on vehicle parked on Third near Seaview Plaza.

03:32 - 911 caller complained that tenants of a Gateway Apartments partied and played loud music for the previous four nights. Officer was unable to contact the residents.

05:18 - Verbal warning for too many passengers in vehicle issued at North Star Circle. Officer performed FST’s on the driver who was not intoxicated. Officer contacted six other subjects in the vehicle.

04:32 - 911 caller phoned multiple times stating that he had been told that an officer was trying to contact him and he did not have another way to call the police department.

13:15 - Earthquake, magnitude 6.6, near the coast of Chiapas, Mexico at a depth of 19 miles. No tsunami was expected.

Nov. 12

00:25 - Officer contacted a female at the NAPA Auto Parts parking lot. She was intoxicated and stated that she was walking home to the Salmon Creek area, but she was not dressed for the weather. She provided a PBT sample of .278. Her boyfriend showed up in a cab to pick her up but was also intoxicated with a PBT result of .081. Officer provided transportation for both subjects to Trail Street and released the female to a parent, who provided a PBT sample of .000.

07:21 - Verbal warning for inoperative brake light issued on Benson at Great Bear Circle.

07:42 - Verbal warning for failure to carry proof of insurance and inoperative brake/taillight issued at Seward Highway and Coolidge

09:50 - Manager at Kimberly Court called and advised that a wrecked PT Cruiser showed up in the parking lot over the weekend.

10:14 - Caller advised that the door to his residence was kicked in. AST advised.

11:42 - Earthquake, preliminary magnitude 6.5, 310 miles southwest of Juneau at a depth 6 miles. No tsunami.

14:47 - Ambulance requested for a male with a possible stroke in the 400 block of Second. SVFD/SVAC dispatched and subject was transported to the hospital.

16:15 - SAST arrested Erin Oneil on MIW IV and V on Seward Highway at Pit Bar.

17:49 - Hospital called to request SVAC to pick up Guardian Crew at the airport and transport to pick up a patient. Guardian was unable to land due to a power outage at the airport. Unknown when lights would be restored.

19:16 - SAST (via 911) reported an unknown male requested a welfare check on a female who was supposed to be walking down Benson Road. Officer contacted the subject and everything was fine.

22:11 - Citation for no proof of insurance and white light to the rear issued to Donald Gallegos just north of the Pit Bar on Seward Highway.
