Fun night planned for youth

The TYC Youth Council will hold a Tri-Fun-A-Thon from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. The evening includes skating, swimming and dancing. The entry fee is $30 or pledges.

Library offers free used books and videos

Seward Community Library’s used book sale is open one last time and this time everything is free. Stop in before Nov. 3 because volunteers are packing up books and taking them to Anchorage. There are still books, VHS tapes, and cassette audiobooks looking for homes.

RBCA beer and wine tasting event planned

Tickets are on sale for Resurrection Bay Conservation Alliance’s 6th Annual Beer & Wine Tasting to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 3 at Alaska SeaLife Center. The event will feature local brewers and vintners, appetizers and desserts donated by creative regional and local chefs competing in the annual Chef-Off and Dessert Challenge cooking contests. Advance ticket purchase is recommended. The entrance fee is $38 per person and can be made through PayPal at www.rbca-alaska.org, or visit the office at 909 Third to pay with cash. Proceeds from the event benefit RBCA’s community projects.

‘Pawsghetti’ fundraiser benefits animal shelter

A fundraiser to benefit the Seward Animal Shelter and P.U.P.S. is planned for 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 10, Seward Mountain Haven, Commons Building. The “Pawsghetti“ dinner will be an all-you-can-eat buffet with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the two organizations. Donations are accepted in lieu of dinner. Ski club kicks off season

Seward Nordic Ski Club will kick off the season with a membership social from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at Seward Brewing. The evening will feature High Lonesome Sound, which was recently voted Anchorage’s best bluegrass band. Those who renew their membership will receive 20 percent off their food tab for the evening. Also, Seward Brewing will donate $1 per beer purchased. Information about the club is at www.sewardnordicskiclub.org
