The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department

Oct. 11

22:39 - Caller reported problems with her boyfriend. Officer responded to do a welfare check, but was unable to locate the boyfriend.

Oct. 12

00:07 - Electric Department responded to a power outage in the Camelot area and advised that most of the power had been restored, but the department would still be working on another transformer.

12:15 - Individual spoke with an officer about his trailer that had been missing since sometime after the middle of July. The trailer had been towed by the parking authority to Seward Body and Paint. Officer made contact with them and they would get with the owner to work things out.

12:17 - Individual advised that she had received a harassing phone call and that she had done the trace.

13:46 - Caller from North Carolina requested a welfare check on his brother. Officer contacted the brother and requested that he contact the reporting party.

14:40 - Individual reported that she lost her wallet with IDs, credit cards and $300 cash. At 15:44 reporting party reported that she found her wallet.

15:36 - Verbal warning for no visible licenses plate on vehicle issued on Fourth next to the pay parking lot.

15:54 - Citation for speed issued to Kayla Gore at Third and Van Buren. Verbal warnings issued for broken windshield, obstructed view and white to the rear.

15:51 - Individual from the parking authority reported a vehicle was parked in Ray’s parking lot and needed to be moved so that he could remove the yellow parking bumper.

Oct. 13

01:00 - Officer responded to a report of a black bear traveling south down the alley behind city hall.

07:00 - Verbal warning for headlight and proof of insurance issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

11:39 - Individual reported a crow was trapped in a line just east of the Alaska SeaLife Center. ASLC would take care of it.

12:51 - 911 open line call.

17:06 - SAST requested assistance at Willow Lane for a disturbance between two men.

Oct. 14

00:29 - Caller requested a welfare check on her daughter who was with her father. Officer met with father and determined that it was a shared custody civil issue.

01:58 - Earthquake, preliminary magnitude 4.3, 15 miles northwest of Homer. No tsunami

02:55 - The door at the rear of Oriental Gardens was open. Door was closed nothing appeared to have been disturbed.

05:12 - Caller advised that a large black bear went into the shed at his residence. The bear left the area after an officer set off a seal bomb.

09:14 - Individual reported yelling and screaming from an upstairs apartment at Bayside. Officer arrested D. Guiliani for DV Assault IV and transported the subject to SCJ.

09:31 - Individual advised that her cellular phone switched into SIM mode and might accidentally dial 911.

09:34 - 911 misdial.

10:59 - Officer responded to a report of possibly finding marijuana in a room after a guest checked out.

15:49 - 911 misdial.

16:50 - Individual said there is a sofa in the northbound lane of the Seward Highway across from Sea Lion over the fog line.

21:38 - SAST reported an ATV rollover with injuries out Lowell Point Road past Miller’s Landing.

21:48 - Caller requested that an officer standby at the Harbormaster’s while they used the facilities. There was an intoxicated male on site. Officer contacted two men who were not subject to protective custody.

21:50 - SCCC reported an alarm/red light on the sewer pump.

Oct. 15

00:43 - Caller reported that the power was out. Electric notified.

02:25 - Verbal warning for skateboarding in the street issued by Chevron.

05:32 - Officer responded to a 911 caller’s report of a black bear on their porch on Second.

07:46 - SVAC dispatched on a request for an to pick up Guardian Flight Crew at the airport.

10:01 - SVAC dispatched on a request for an to pick up Lifemed crew at the airport.

12:13 - SVAC dispatched to transport a female, who was not feeling well, to the hospital.

19:48 - 911 misdial.

Oct. 16

12:22 - Safeway requested that an officer pick up items that they found.

16:12 - Individual reported that his boat motor and EZ Loader trailer was possibly stolen. He had not seen it in four days. He would speak with friends and family.

17:53 - Fire officer reported a motor vehicle accident at Mile 3 Nash Road. Registered owner called and reported he was fine, out of vehicle and would have it removed by evening.

18:09 - Caller requested sanding at Mile 3 Nash Road.

Oct. 17

09:39 - SFD advised that SCCC would be burning in their burn barrel.

09:54 - Burn permit issued to Alaska Waste at 3200 Dimond for the day and the next.

14:14 - Glacier Towing requested an officer for traffic control at Mile 3 Nash Road while they got a vehicle out of the ditch. Driver slid his vehicle into the ditch at approximately 17:53 the day before.

14:45 - 911 abandoned call.

16:16 - Individual advised of a bonfire near the railroad tracks across from Salmon Creek Trailer Court. Fire chief reported that the people having the bonfire were drinking inside a parked vehicle. SAST notified.

17:10 - SAST requested that an unattended fire near the railroad tracks across from the Salmon Creek Trailer Court be extinguished

19:33 - Individual reported that they lost their bike from the playground.

19:40 - Individual reported a vehicle was swerving all of the roadway and straddling the fog line at the Pit Bar and headed north. SAST advised.

19:46 - 911 caller reported he found his bike.

19:46 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Bayside Apartments for a female having a seizure.

22:46 - Officers responded to a request from Bayside Apartments for a disturbance. Officers issued disorderly conduct warnings two subjects.

Oct. 18

Editor’s note: The LOG did not receive the SPD journal for the Oct. 18 graveyard shift before press time.

11:20 - Individual reported that her lost dog was found in Seward and that the animal shelter turned it over to a rescue group who gave the dog to another family for adoption. Officer spoke with the reporting party and the animal control officer.

13:00 - PSMC turned over medications that needed to be disposed.

13:15 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Mountain Haven for a male with difficulty breathing and semi conscious. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

13:28 - Verbal warning for speed issued at the Salmon Bake.

15:19 - Citation for speed issued to Tyler Quiring at Mile 2.5 Nash Road.

17:24 - Individual reported that his stereo was stolen and spoke to an officer. Officer contacted the suspect and she advised she would return the stereo the next day.

17:48 - Individual requested an officer to Little Bear Mountain Apartments on behalf of a tenant who had argued with her son, Billy Wardlow, who kicked in her door. Officer contacted Wardlow and issued a summons for DV Criminal Mischief IV.

20:19 - Individual reported seeing a headlamp on Mount Marathon. SVFD officer met the runner at the base of the mountain and advised her of the dangers. Officer locked the gate to the jeep trail.

20:28 - 911 caller reported a fight in progress and possible break in at Pacific Parks Apartments. Officer found everything to be OK and secured the premise upon leaving.

21:29 - Individual reported her Mickey Mouse purse was missing. Contents included prescription medications and a debit card.

22:11 - 911 caller reported overhearing men behind her house threaten to shoot her. Officers issued disorderly conduct warnings to the subjects.

22:20 - State trooper arrested Malissa Baird on a warrant and MICS VI at Mile 1 Nash Road and remanded her to SCJ.

22:32 - Multiple 911 callers reported a possible fight between a man and woman behind the Sea Bean. Officers were unable to locate. Another 911 caller reported that the bottom tenants at the Sea Bean were fighting. Officers contacted a man and woman, and issued a disorderly conduct order to the man.

23:33 - Jason Davis arrested on extraditable Washington State DoC warrant.

Oct. 19

07:32 - 911 open line call.

08:26 - Jason Davis was arrested for fugitive from justice while in custody at SCJ.

08:36 - Caller complained of a dog barking near Oak Street.

11:43 - Officers responded to a report of a male wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt outside Pacific Park Apartments C Building with a gun. Officers found that the gun was an air soft pistol.

12:09 - Citation for brake lights issued to Meredith Hersock Fourth and Madison.

16:07 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Safeway.

16:30 - SAST requested fire/EMS to Mile 31.5 Seward Highway for an 18-wheeler rollover involving several vehicles.

22:00 - Verbal warning for driving without headlights on after dark issued at Three Bears parking lot.

22:05 - Officer responded to a report of a black bear getting into garbage at First and Monroe. Officer was unable to locate the bear.

23:35 - State trooper arrested Gregorio Mercer for disorderly conduct and misconduct involving weapons, and Scott Frost for disorderly conduct at Lost Lake Subdivision and transported them to SCJ.

Oct. 20

0007 - Verbal warning for driving excessively slow issued at Mile 3 Nash Road.

01:54 - 911 caller reported that a dog that would not stop barking near his residence at Madison Road, and it was keeping he and his family awake. Officer was unable to locate the animal.

03:11 - Individual reported that there was an intoxicated male on the south most of the three bridges who was walking in and out of traffic. Officers were unable to locate the subject.

12:41 - 911 misdial.

12:50 - Officer responded to a request for a civil standby at Little Bear Mountain Apartments. Officer conducted the standby without incident.

13:35 - Individual turned in a found wallet.

13:50 - SAST reported that a driver, who was last seen headed south from Copper Landing, might be drinking.

15:18 - Individual reported a dog barking on Oak Street.

20:03 - Verbal warning issued for taillight requirements.

20:40 - Citations for no proof of insurance and headlight requirements issued to Candace Senecal at Seward Highway at Sea Lion.

21:06 - Verbal warning for headlight requirements issued on the Seward Highway at Port.

21:16 - Verbal warning for headlight requirements issued on the Seward Highway at Sea Lion.

Oct. 21

01:34 - Verbal warning for no front license plate issued on Hemlock near Seward Highway.

03:33 - Caller from the Seward Resort reported a black bear was on their front deck getting in to the trash can again.

04:23 - Caller from Guardian Security reported a burglar alarm at Resurrection Bay Auto Parts (NAPA). Officer responded and advised that all windows and doors were secure.

11:40 - Individual reported a black and tan dog from Midnight Sun Apartments was running loose around the neighborhood without a collar. Reporting party advised that the dog had been growling, showing teeth and attacking other dogs.

17:08 - 911 misdial

22:30 - Individual reported dogs barking at Benson Street. ACO responded and no one answered the door.

23:08 - USCG Anchorage requested an officer to help locate and activated EPERB. Officer checked harbormaster’s office and SMIC, and was unable to locate.
