Academy Café opens today
The Academy Café at AVTEC will open on Thursday, Oct. 25 and remain open till Thursday, Dec. 13. The theme of the café this fall is Tour of Latin America. Reservations need to be made online at www.avtec.edu. Under hot topics click on the link to Academy Café reservations.
Garage sale supports scholarships
Seward Parent Teacher Student Association will hold a garage sale Saturday to benefit the association’s scholarship program. Donations can be made by dropping them off from 1 to 5 p.m ., Friday, Oct. 26 at the high school loading dock. The sale is 9 am. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the high school. NRA banquet set for Saturday
Seward Friends of the NRA is holding their annual banquet and fundraiser beginning at 5 p.m ., Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Dale R. Lindsey Railroad Terminal. The evening includes a catered dinner and chances to win guns and merchandise. Tickets are $45 and are available at ACE Hardware, Stylin’ Stitched, Seward Plumbing or by calling Jaysun at 362-1700 or Larry at 224-6416.
Fun night planned for youth
The TYC Youth Council will hold a Tri-Fun-A-Thon from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. The evening includes skating, swimming and dancing. The entry fee is $30 or pledges.
Health center meeting set
The Seward Community Health Center meeting will be held at 6 p.m ., Thursday, Oct. 25 at Seward Mountain Haven Conference Room. The public is welcome to attend.
Library offers free used books and videos
Seward Community Library’s used book sale is open one last time and this time everything is free. Stop in before Nov. 3 because volunteers are packing up books and taking them to Anchorage. There are still books, VHS tapes, and cassette audiobooks looking for homes.
RBCA beer and wine tasting event planned
Tickets are on sale for Resurrection Bay Conservation Alliance’s 6th Annual Beer & Wine Tasting to be held from 7-10 p.m. Nov. 3 at Alaska SeaLife Center. The event will feature local brewers and vintners, appetizers and desserts donated by creative regional and local chefs competing in the annual Chef-Off and Dessert Challenge cooking contests.
