Halloween Carnival planned

Leon Youngblood | The Seward Phoenix LOG
The spirit of Halloween inhabits the cemetery at last year’s Halloween Carnival.
Sewardites of all ages will dress in costume to attend the annual Halloween Carnival for the contests, games and food that will fill the railroad terminal on Wednesday.
Some of the new booths this year are face painting with Sarah Glaser, pumpkin bowling by Friends of Jesse Lee Home and Seward High School Choir booths. The Seward Elementary School Leadership team will run the cake walk booth this year.
Back are popular booths like Slice of Heaven Pies by Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elks Club burger stand, fishing for stuffed animals by the Girl Scouts, Teen Center dunk tank, with local celebrities and teens sitting on the wet seat, and the goldfish booth.
Anyone not in costume is subject to arrest and jail by T.R.A.I.L.S ., and for fun and a few tickets people can have someone arrested and jailed by the group.
The carnival is from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 at Dale R. Lindsey Railroad terminal. Tickets for the booths, activities and food are 50 cents each. The number of tickets required for each activity varies.
The event is presented by Seward Parks and Recreation Department, Seward Seahawks Athletic Booster Club, and the Teen and Youth Center Councils, with the railroad terminal venue donated for the evening by Alaska Railroad Corporation.
Booth space can be reserved until 9 p.m ., Friday, Oct. 26 by submitting an application to the SPRD office in the AVTEC Student Services Center or at the high school. Applications and information are available by contacting Shari Adelmann at 224-4054.
