Oct. 4
00:22 - James Pereira criminally trespassed from the Yukon Bar for 30 days.
00:40 - Officer requested a case number for a found wallet that was in Mike’s Taxi downtown.
00:45 - Rita Hall was arrested by AST for DUI at Mile 47 Seward Highway and transported to SCJ.
01:37 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Essential One.
03:52 - Individual reported that someone kicked his dog at Bayside and then left in a vehicle. Unknown suspect or vehicle descriptors.
04:26 - Officer advised of an alarm sounding inside the post office. Officer advised that building was secured.
08:25 - Earthquake, preliminary magnitude 4.2, 50 miles southwest of Haines at a depth of 2 miles.
08:53 - Individual from DOT turned in a found change purse containing money and ID.
10:59 - Caller reported the theft of a diamond from an item he sold on eBay that was returned minus the diamond.
11:02 - Caller advised that a bear was asleep in the tree at the dentist’s office parking lot.
12:48 - Verbal warning for speed issued in the Small Boat Harbor.
13:50 - Verbal warning for speed issued next to NAPA.
13:50 - 911 call advising of a fire drill at Seward Mountain Haven Lupine Lodge. Also received a call from a security company reporting the fire alarm at Lupine lodge.
14:05 - 911 call advising of a fire drill at Seward Mountain Haven Raven Lodge. Also received a call from a security company reporting the fire alarm at Raven lodge.
19:55 - 911 misdial.
21:05 - Officer responded to a request for a welfare check on an AVTEC student. After contacting the student, the officer reported all was OK.
23:36 - Officer responded to a report from the elementary school custodian that there had been a white car parked in the parking lot for several hours.
Oct. 5
00:17 - Trooper responded to a report of a black bear in a residence at Bear Lake Road.
08:48 - SCCC would be burning in their approved area.
09:59 - SAST advised that they received a report that a piece of equipment was leaking fuel at Miller’s Landing.
13:50 - Individual reported a deceased owl in front of the old group home on Diamond by the fire hydrant.
15:39 - Individual from the library turned in a found back pack.
15:54 - Verbal warning for failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
16:10 - Citation issued to Matthew Mendenhall for requirements for unattended vehicle after his unattended vehicle rolled down the hill and crashed into hand rails at the AVTEC building at Third and Monroe.
16:27 - Citation for speed issued to Randall Schrank at Seward Highway and Air Force Rec Camp. Officer also issued a verbal warning for failure to carry driver’s license.
16:20 - Individual from First National Bank Alaska turned in a found wallet.
21:23 - 911 caller requested an ambulance for a male at Mile 23 Seward Highway.
22:01 - Verbal warning for headlight out issued at Seward Highway and North Harbor.
Oct. 6
02:47 - State trooper arrested Audrey Southworth for DUI in Cooper Landing and transported her to SCJ.
11:58 - Officer responded to a call from a mother who reported her 6-year-old son was missing from Alaska SeaLife Center. At 12:30 an officer found the boy eating in a car on Sixth. The child said that he did not want to wait at ASLC any more, so he left and walked.
12:45 - Individual turned in a wallet that was found on the bike path.
15:42 - Three abandoned 911 calls.
17:06 - 911 open line call.
18:43 - SAST arrested George Johnson for DUI/drugs and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. Jeanette Myre arrested for violating conditions of release and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor at Mile 48 Seward Highway.
19:13 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
23:11 - SAST advised that they arrested Eros Kuzmin arrested for DUI at Mile 46 Seward Highway and were transporting him to SCJ.
Oct. 7
00:07 - Verbal warning for brake light out issued at First and Lowell Canyon.
01:33 - 911 caller requested an officer to the residence next to the playground at Dora Way for loud music. Officers issued a disorderly conduct warning.
02:22 - 911 caller reported that someone assaulted him at the Marina Motel and then left walking northbound. Officer responded and advised that the reporting party did not wish to press charges, but wanted person to be trespassed from his room. Officer advised subject that he was criminally trespassed from the reporting party’s room at Marina Motel.
02:44 - Officer checked on a vehicle and driver at Seward Highway and Levee Road.
03:13 - SAST advised that they arrested Robert Demuth for DUI at Mile 28 Seward Highway and were transporting him to SCJ..
10:10 - Individual reported a wood smoke smell in the area of the high school. Officer found the smell was from a normal house chimney.
11:30 - Individual from AVTEC advised that they would be doing fire training during the day at the AVTEC Fire Training Center in the SMIC area and would be making black smoke.
12:20 - Individual reported a vehicle was stuck in the Japp Creek delta by the dump. Officer found the vehicle to be out of the way, but in about 6 inches of water.
13:36 - Four 911 misdial calls.
18:22 - 911 open line call.
18:37 - 911 open line call. Trooper saw three youths walking north on Fourth away from a phone booth. Officer contacted three youths at Fifth and Jefferson. Their parents were contacted and the youth were released to parent(s).
21:59 - Verbal warning for passing in a no-passing zone issued at Fourth and Port Avenue.
22:14 - Individual on Bluefield Drive turned on her back porch light and a black bear lunged at her door.
Oct. 8
04:35 - 911 caller reported hearing what he thought were gun shots behind the Breeze Inn Motel. Officer determined that someone was lighting fireworks near the water.
06:57 - Verbal warning for inoperative headlight issued at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot.
09:04 - Spring Creek Correctional Center would be doing a controlled burn during the day.
12:40 - Individual advised that there would be people doing the Hawk Walk down Sea Lion crossing the highway, down to the SeaLife Center and back on Fourth, then back the same way.
15:00 - Individual claimed a found wallet..
16:30 - AST notified SPD that a tractor trailer, just passing Metco on the Seward Highway, was losing a tire and shredding all over the road. Officer found that the vehicle was gone on arrival.
16:30 - Verbal warning issued to four subjects who were pulling a tricycle on Sea Lion at Seward Highway.
18:03 - Individual reported a tractor trailer hauling a bulldozer was stuck on the railroad tracks.
18:26 - 911 caller from Mountain Haven reported a male who was breathing but non responsive.
18:25 - Wyatt Williams arrested at Salmon Creek Trailer Park on a warrant for Criminal Mischief IV DV.
Oct. 9
22:10 - Citation for window tint violation issued to Helen Stewart at Mile .25 Nash Road.
22:31 - Caller from Communications Alaska security company reported a general fire alarm from a fourplex on Sixth. SVFD and SVAC dispatched. SVFD reported that it was a false alarm and all units could be canceled.
22:39 - Citation for failure to stop at stop sign issued to Rebecca Edlin at Third and Railway.
23:16 - Verbal warning for expired registration and no front bumper issued at Third and Adams.
01:53 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at the stop sign issued on Fourth near the south harbor boat launch.
02:01 - 911 caller reported that someone stole the tires off of his bicycle that was locked up outside Seward Alehouse. Officer discovered that someone pulled a prank on the reporting party and hid his tires along the side of the building.
06:14 - Verbal warning for inoperative taillight issued at Third and D.
06:48 - Citation for failure to stop at stop sign issued to Bryan Conrad at Maple and Ash.
07:20 - Citations for failure to stop at stop sign and failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Noah Diamond at Third and Adams. Verbal warning issued for failure to use turn signal.
08:40 - Individual reported that between 23:00 and 07:00 someone bent an antenna on a vehicle and a windshield wiper on another. None of owners of vehicles wished to file a report.
09:10 - Individual reported that items were taken from his vessel on F-float in the Small Boat Harbor.
14:30 - Parks and Recreation turned in a brown and white Mongoose BMX bike found on the bike path by the Pavilion.
15:40 - Individual reported a disabled vehicle in the northbound lane of the Seward Highway between Safeway and Essential One.
22:10 - Individual smelled smoke and possibly saw smoke toward Gateway Apartments. Fire officer found nothing.
Oct. 10
00:27 - 911 caller, en route to the hospital southbound on Third, needed directions on how to get there.
00:36 - Roy Dougherty arrested for DUI at Seward Highway and Aspen, and transported to SCJ. Verbal warnings were given for illegal use of the turn lane and inoperative brake light.
03:35 - Individual reported that his girlfriend left the Yukon Bar at approximately 01:30, but had not made it home. Reporting party called back at 04:51 and advised that the desk clerk at the Breeze Inn said the girlfriend was there but she was not answering her door. Officer determined that the woman was fine.
07:02 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Sixth and Madison.
09:08 - SVFD issued a burn permit for the day and the next at 3200 Diamond.
11:09 - Officer responded to a request to address two intoxicated pedestrians jumping in front of vehicles on Lowell Point Road. Officer was unable to locate anyone in the area.
12:48 - Individual called to recover his wallet and was advised it would be mailed to him.
13:30 - Individual with the Harbor Department turned in items that they found in the Harbor Department restrooms.
15:30 - Individual reported a young juvenile male wearing a green shirt and jeans was staggering on Jefferson toward Waterfront Campground. Officer was unable to locate.
16:15 - Verbal warning for speed issued in Safeway parking lot.
16:33 - Verbal warning for lane usage issued at Breeze Inn Hotel.
18:56 - Individual reported several “bikers” having a tailgate party and drinking alcohol at Kimberly Court Apartments. The reporting party stated that the group then strapped on helmets and were getting ready to leave with kids on the motorcycles. Officer was unable to locate any bikers.
19:07 - 911 misdial.
20:10 - Verbal warning issued to a taxi for unsafe vehicle at Fourth and North Harbor. Interior door handles were inoperable, unable to unlatch doors from inside vehicle on passenger side.
Oct. 11
07:23 - Alaska Railroad advised an SPD officer that they would be replacing track all day, and the crossing at Seward Highway and Airport Road would be closed.
07:26 - Warning for parking against the flow of traffic left on a vehicle at Fifth and Washington.
10:42 - Individual requested a welfare check on his son who lives at Abigail Circle. Information given to AST.
16:22 - 911 call received from inside City Hall building at 410 Adams Street.
16:31 - Earthquake, magnitude 6.7, Aru Islands Region, Indonesia at a depth of 15 miles. No tsunami was expected.
17:57 - Individual reported an intoxicated male headed north and staggering on Sixth just past Monroe. Officer unable to locate the subject.
21:30 - Citation for expired registration issued to Karl Vanbuskirk Jr. at Third and A. Verbal warnings issued for failure to dim lights, failure to carry proof of insurance and failure to carry registration inside the vehicle.
