Sept. 27
10:40 - High school held a planned fire drill. SVFD advised.
15:49 - 911 caller reported an eagle sitting on a power pole next to the Lagoon.
15:59 - 911 caller reported that a male just took a drink from a wine bottle in the Safeway Parking lot and then drove off. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
20:15 - Verbal warning for driving with headlights off after dark issued at Third and Van Buren.
20:24 - Verbal warning for headlight out issued on the Seward Highway at the Chamber of Commerce.
20:59 - Verbal warning for trailer light out issued at Seward Highway and Nash Road.
Sept. 28
08:47 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Seward Highway for a 65-year-old male having a diabetic emergency. MPVFD/SVAC dispatched.
10:00 - Seward Elementary had a fire drill planned for the day.
20:04 - Verbal warning for driving with parking lights on issued on the Seward Highway at the Air Force Rec Camp.
20:57 - Alaska State Trooper arrested Mary Dean for DUI on Herman Leirer Road and remanded her to SCJ.
22:03 - Verbal warning for failure to turn headlights on issued at Seward Highway and Levee Road.
22:27 - Verbal warning for failure to turn headlights on issued at Seward Highway and Iron Drive.
Sept. 29
00:01 - Verbal warning for inoperative taillight issued at Port Avenue and Leirer.
00:20 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at stop sign issued at Port Avenue and Alemeda.
01:30 - Verbal warning for obstructed view issued on Port Avenue near Hertz.
02:04 - Verbal warning for driving without headlights issued at Seward Highway and Van Buren.
06:31 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Gateway Apartments for a female with extreme abdominal pain. SVAC and SVFD dispatched.
09:43 - AST advised of a single vehicle rollover at Mile 51 Seward Highway. MPVFD requested SVAC for mutual aid due to Cooper Landing Fire/EMS being unavailable.
10:15 - MPVFD reported a single vehicle accident at Mile 42 Seward Highway. SAST advised.
10:53 - SVAC reported a motor vehicle accident at Mile 45 Seward Highway. SAST advised.
11:05 - 911 hang up call.
12:08 - 911 abandoned call.
12:14 - Officer responded to a report of a possible abandoned vehicle in the lot by the Cup.
14:45 - Individual reported a black bear going through trash at the residence next to the playground on Dora Way. Officer responded and advised that the Alaska Fish and Wildlife officer would take care of it.
15:08 - Citation for for headlight requirements issued to Randall Rydberg at Mile 1.5 Seward Highway.
15:11 - Officer responded to a request from the AVTEC dorm attendant for an individual with marijuana at AVTEC across from Roo’s Rascals.
15:31 - U.S. Post Office requested extra patrols until Oct. 1 because they were not able to set the alarms.
16:04 - Citation for speed issued to David Elwell at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
16:38 - 911 caller reported a 50-year-old male with a possible stroke.
16:48 - Verbal warning for crossing the yellow line issued at Seward Highway and Resurrection.
16:51 - Citation for speed issued to Amy Delgado on the Seward Highway at Essential One.
21:05 - Providence Hospital requested that SVAC meet a Guardian Flight at the airport.
21:12 - SAST requested assistance at Eagle Lane for intoxicated subject with weapons in the house.
22:03 - MPVFD requested SVAC to respond to Seward Highway for transport to Providence Hospital.
22:19 - Verbal warning for not having headlights on issued at Fifth and Seward Highway.
23:11 - Verbal warning for obstructed view issued at the festival parking lot.
23:41 - Verbal warning for headlight requirements issued at Port Avenue and Alameda.
23:19 - AST advised that there was water on the highway again at Mile 3.5 Seward Highway.
Sept. 30
0023 - Randy Apodaca arrested for DUI at Birch and Dimond after being observed speeding. Apodaca also charged with BTR and given four citations for open container, driving over/across or within median/barrier, operating with expired registration and failure to register vehicle.
02:30 - Verbal warning issued for headlight out.
06:51 - Individual advised they would be duck hunting until approximately 09:00. Would call when done.
08:32 - Earthquake, magnitude 7.4, in Columbia at a depth of 140 kilometers. No tsunami was expected.
14:05 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Mile 1 Seward Highway.
14:13 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign issued at Seward Highway and Dairy Hill.
14:36 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Third and D.
14:47 - 911 abandoned call.
14:51 - Citation for speed issued to Amirah Fayek at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
15:13 - Verbal warning for headlight out issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
15:25 - Verbal warning for tallight out issued at Mile 1.2 Seward Highway.
20:12 - Moose Pass requested aid at Mile 48 Seward Highway for a cabin fire. Bear Creek and Cooper Landing assisted.
Oct. 1
06:50 - Notice for parking where prohibited left on vehicle at Washington between Fourth and Fifth.
07:02 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Seth Price at Seward Highway and Hemlock. Warning for inoperative headlight also issued.
07:13 - Citation for inoperative headlight issued to Earle Madden at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
07:14 - Verbal warning issued for failure to use headlights issued at Seward Highway and Levee Road.
07:23 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued at Mile 2.5 Seward Highway.
07:26 - Verbal warning for failure to use headlights issued at Seward Highway and Airport Road.
08:00 - Citation issued to Charles Harris for window tint. Harris also advised transfer vehicle title and registration to Alaska and to not drive the vehicle until legally licensed, and change driver’s license to Alaska.
08:02 - Citation for speed issued to Michele Lacsamana. Verbal warnings also issued to update license from provisional to full and obstructed view.
09:53 - Officer retrieved an air soft pellet gun an individual found under his canoes.
10:15 - Individual requested assistance contacting a family member due to lack of phone service. Contact was made with the family member.
10:45 - Officer spoke with a detective from Island County, Wash. who requested assistance for a homicide case in Washington.
13:31 - Officer responded to a report of a bear under a tree at Diamond and Hemlock, and tried to scare the bear away. Trooper also advised. The bear finally left the area.
13:33 - Earthquake, preliminary magnitude 4.0, 130 miles east of Amchikta at a depth 3 miles. No tsunami.
14:00 - City manager advised that the abandoned vehicle on the lot across from the Air Force Rec Camp needed to be removed.
15:37 - SPD mailed a found Social Security card to the address on the card.
16:09 - Individual reported hitting a vehicle on D between Third and Fourth.
16:34 - Citations for headlight and taillight requirements issued to Marc Mooter on Seward Highway at Air Force Rec Camp.
17:04 - Citation for expired plates and no insurance issued to Susannah Agnone at Third and Jefferson.
21:21 - Verbal warning for headlight out issued behind Safeway.
23:26 - Verbal warning for driving without headlights issued at Essential One.
Oct. 2
11:00 - Ambulance requested by Lifeline to Phoenix for a female who was not feeling well and weak. SVAC/SVFD dispatched and the subject transported to the hospital.
11:49 - Burn permit issued to Alaska Waste at the transfer site through the next day. Normal conditions applied.
12:23 - Individual reported that a black bear was inside the building at the weir on Bear Lake Road. SAST advised. At 12:33 hours the bear left after getting his fill.
12:35 - LifeMed called and requested a status on the airport. Officer responded and advised that everything was OK. Pilot advised.
12:35 - Citation for failure to register vehicle issued in the 72-hour parking lot.
12:45 - Individual advised an officer that his vehicle was struck while at either Wells Fargo or the front of the Fish House. No suspects.
13:12 - Fire officer reported an accident in front of AVTEC on Third.
13:14 - SVAC dispatched to pick up the crew of LifeMed at the airport, ETA 13:33. Plane could not land and a chopper would come in later.
14:27 - Vehicle was removed on the lot behind the food bank across from the Army Rec Camp.
15:03 - Individual reported a possible fight at Bayside Apartments.
15:49 - Individual reported a male lying in front of a door at Bayside Apartments. Officers contacted subject. PBT .139.
22:56 - 911 caller requested an ambulance for a male who was feverish, sweating and incoherent. MPVFD dispatched. MPVFD requested Lifemed helicopter which was launched.
Oct. 3
05:22 - Caller reported that a male in a dark hoodie and blue jeans came on to his boat. Caller advised that he wasn’t sure what the man was trying to do, but he had run the man off. Officer contacted two subjects who stated that they had mistaken the caller’s boat for their own.
07:06 - Warning for parking against the flow of traffic issued at Fourth and Adams.
07:45 - Verbal warning for driving without headlights on issued at Third and Van Buren.
09:17 - Seward Mountain Haven held a fire drill that was completed at 09:33.
09:25 - Summons for minor consuming issued to Austin Kokeok issued after a request from the dorm attendant for an officer for a highly intoxicated student under 21.
10:18 - Individual reported a black dog, with a white chest, was loose on the beach. ACO was advised.
12:06 - Deputy city clerk turned in to SPD a found laptop computer. Owner retrieved her laptop.
14:46 - Individual advised that there was a female who was intoxicated and walking on Adams towards Third.
15:36 - 911 misdial.
16:40 - 911 caller reported that his cell phone was not working. Caller was advised that the phones were down and if he needed emergency help to call back. Information given to officer. TelAlaska, ACS and GCI were aware of the problem and working on it.
