Anastasia “Nancy” Hufana

Longtime Alaskan and Kenai resident Anastasia “Nancy” Hufana, 99, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

An open house and celebration of her life will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 at Aunty Catina’s house, 4289 Beaver Loop Road in Kenai.

Nancy was born March 18, 1913 in Kenai. She attended school through the eighth grade. She also lived in Juneau and Anchorage, and was a musician and homemaker.

Nancy enjoyed gardening, caring for pets and playing musical instruments especially the drums, bass guitar and ukulele.

“Our Aunty Nancy passed away with grace and style, as she lived, with her own brand of humor. She will be remembered for her youthful character, love of music and unconditional love that she bestowed upon those close to her.”

“Nancy spoke five languages, played several musical instruments and she rarely missed an opportunity to have genuine fun. Destination Heaven! Our aunty was a blast!” her family said.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose Hufana, sister, Madrona Segura and brother, William Perez.

She is survived by her sister Madrona Darien’s seven of nine children and their families.
