Police LOG — Sept. 13, 2012
Aug. 25
11:45 - Caller reported that he got into a confrontation with the owner of the boat in the harbor slip next to his and wished to speak with an officer about it. An officer spoke with the caller and then responded to the harbor, where he and the harbormaster contacted and spoke with the slip mate about the incident.
13:07 - Caller reported that he forgot a blue hand carry size duffel bag, with the name Bennett embroidered on the side, in the north 72-hour harbor parking lot when he left town the day before. The bag contained a camera and other equipment. Officer was unable to locate the bag.
13:45 - Individual turned in a black retractable dog leash that he found on Ballaine.
14:02 - Caller reported that the power was out at the Trailhead Lodging /Sip and Spin building on Third. Information given to electric department.
14:15 - Individual reported that the back tire was stolen off his specialized mountain bike while it was locked up at Kawabe Park at Fourth and Adams.
15:00 - Citation for speed issued to Chera Boom at Seward Highway and Coolidge.

Aug. 29
20:48 - Caller from Icicle Seafoods reported that former employee Elvin Alimli had been fired but was back on the property when he was not supposed to be. Officer contacted subject and advised him that he was criminally trespassed indefinitely from all Icicle Seafoods property.
21:16 - Individual reported that she had not heard from her brother in over a month and he normally checked in with her on a regular basis. She stated that she believed he was homeless but had been living in the Seward area. She also said that she lived in Illinois and had been unable to contact him.
21:18 - Citation for speed issued to John Graham at Seward Highway and Coolidge.
23:25 - Trooper advised that he had arrested Rachelle Armstrong in the Camelot area for DWLR and Avoidance of IID, and was transporting her to SCJ.

Sept. 3
02:38 - A female was observed at her vehicle on Tiehacker Road. She was advised not to drive again that night.
08:06 - SAST dispatched MPVFD for a single vehicle rollover at Mile 46 Seward Highway.
09:40 - 911 caller requested an ambulance for a 75-year-old female with knee pain at Stoney Creek Drive. BCVFD/SVAC dispatched.
12:41 - Individual requested an officer to waterfront tent camping next to the playground for a maroon colored vehicle playing music very loud. Officer made contact with subject and issued a disorderly conduct warning for the music.
16:12 - Earthquake, magnitude 4.5, 70 miles northwest of Kodiak Island. No tsunami was generated.
16:13 - Individual reported that her daughter was going over to a residence at Bayview Apartments, and she does not want her there.
17:09 - Three individuals reported a black bear on Sixth across from the Smoke Shack. People were walking around trying to see it.
18:05 - Individual reported that they lost a black and white Motorola slide phone in the park area.
18:52 - Individual from the American Legion reported two intoxicated pedestrians. One was lying in the alley at Jefferson across from the Catholic Church.
22:39 - Individual reported a female, possibly intoxicated, falling down in the parking lot at Bayview Apartments. Officer contacted the female who was given a ride to Sixth.
Sept. 4
03:15 - A loose horse was reported on Phoenix by the horse corral. Owner was contacted and responded.
06:49 - Warning for parking against the flow of traffic issued at Fifth and Washington.
06:57 - Kenai Fjords Tours personnel reported two horses in their parking lot on Phoenix. Owner was contacted and responded.
09:11 - 911 caller reported a crying baby at Bayside. Officer was unable to hear a baby crying in the area.
09:18 - Individual reported a young black bear in Lowell Canyon.
09:35 - Individual requested extra patrols at SMIC.
09:40 - Individual requested that an officer do a welfare check on someone who threatened suicide over the weekend.
10:56 - Officer responded to an OCS request for a welfare check at Kimberly Court Apartments.
11:35 - Officer advised that there was a dead white cat with small black spots at Fourth and A. ACO responded.
12:56 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to meet the M/V Glacier Express at E-float with an unconscious elderly patient onboard. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.
13:40 - Citation for proof of insurance issued to Matthew Allen at Chevron.
14:29 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Hemlock.
14:38 - Citation for taillight issued to Martha Kaiakokonok at Seward Highway and Hemlock. Verbal warning issued for license plate.
14:58 - Citation for headlight issued to Linda Thrall at Third and Madison.
16:23 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
16:38 - Citation for proof of insurance and brake light issued to Daniel Spiers in Three Bears parking lot.
16:56 - Citation for brake light issued to Victor Maddox in the Safeway parking lot.
17:54 - Caller reported a black bear.
Sept. 5
02:55 - Ambulance requested to the Pit Bar for an assault victim who had a broken leg. Subject transported to the hospital.
06:42 - A black bear was reported headed south in the alley between the new and old library.
10:10 - Hotel Seward reported a black bear in the alley behind the hotel.
10:29 - Individual reported a male wearing a green ankle length rain coat had a gun hidden under the coat and was seen walking toward North Star Circle off Benson. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area.
11:14 - Individual reported that there was screaming and banging around at Bayside Apartments. Officer made contact with a subject.
12:15 - Individual reported that someone stole approximately 50 gallons of fuel from his property at the airport.
13:29 - Individual requested an ambulance to Old Exit Glacier Road for a possible overdose. AST/BCVFD/SVAC dispatched.
14:04 - Guardian Security advised of a front entry alarm at Hulm Circle. Officer responded, and advised all secured and no one in the area.
18:52 - Individual requested to speak with an officer involving the “bar” under his house in the 1000 block of Fourth. Officer was unable to hear any noise coming from the lower apartment.
Sept. 6
01:00 - State trooper requested a SPD officer to standby for a traffic stop at Resurrection and Alice.
06:16 - Warning for parking against traffic issued on Fifth Ave.
06:37 - Warning for parking against traffic issued in front of Liberty Theater.
06:45 - Officer was out with a motorist. Informed brake lights are stuck on.
06:49 - Individual reported hearing shots fired at First and Jefferson. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area. Officer advised that PSMC did not hear anything.
08:15 - Warning to secure trash cans issued in the 400 block of Third.
08:20 - Burn permit issued to transfer facility at 3200 Dimond for the day.
11:00 - State troopers advised that a female subject had a civil dispute with a male subject, and he was following her on Exit Glacier Road. SAST advised that they were en route to SPD. Officer made contact with both subjects and waited for AST to respond.
11:58 - PSMC requested an ambulance to pick up LifeMed at the Airport for a transport. SVAC dispatched.
12:48 - Individual reported several items were taken during the night from their vehicle on Second.
13:35 - Individual advised that a female was giving marijuana cigarettes and alcohol to minors on Fourth near AVTEC.
16:13 - Citation for speed issued to Angel Storle at Third and Van Buren.
16:28 - Officer requested a case number for a credit card fraud case.
17:32 - 911 misdial.
19:43 - Citation for speed issued to Michael Zarella, Jr. at Third and D.
19:48 - Individual reported a possibly intoxicated driver leaving a party in Questa Woods and headed south on Seward Highway. Officer was unable to locate.
21:04 - Individual reported a hit and run in the 200 block of Second. Officer spoke with reporting party and found that the vehicle was hit within the previous 24 hours.
23:30 - AVTEC reported a black bear getting into trash next to the apartments on Fourth. Officer found that the bear got into a bear proof can and was up a tree.
Sept. 7
06:59 - Verbal warning issued for not having headlights on.
07:39 - Individual reported a black bear by Ray’s Reusables heading south through the alleyway.
08:10 - Individual reported that a waste/water department diesel fuel tank at Dimond and Hemlock was broken into and about 200-300 gallons of fuel was stolen.
10:19 - Individual reported that she received a strange phone call that could possibly be a scam.
10:40 - Individual reported that someone was throwing dog food into the alley of Bayview.
12:48 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Jens Mobley at Fourth and Port. Verbal warning for speeding also issued.
12:54 - 911 misdial reported by SAST.
14:12 - Individual talked to an officer about an elderly driver who may start to be a traffic hazard.
17:00 - 911 hang up call.
20:33 - Male caller reported a possible assault at Three Bears. A male tried to pull a female from red vehicle. Male left on foot, walking toward town, wearing white cutoffs and had a backpack.
21:30 - SAST requested assistance with a domestic violence incident in the 32600 block of Old Nash Road. SPD officer transported Steven Houck to SCJ.
21:30 - SAST requested medics for female who was bleeding in the 32600 block of Old Nash Road. Unknown injuries.
21:55 - Citation for taillights and proof of insurance issued to Ryan Fisher on Seward Highway at Stoney Creek. Verbal warning issued for headlights.
22:18 - Individual reported a black bear in the dumpster between the Sea Bean and Alehouse in the back alley.
Sept. 8
05:09 - Black bear reported in the dumpster behind Hotel Seward. Officer moved the bear to the mountain.
06:59 - Notice placed on an abandoned vehicle on the fire department lot by the Air Force Rec Camp.
09:35 - Individual reported a motor vehicle accident at Third and Dairy Hill. Officer responded and contacted reporting party and Derek Shuler. Shuler was issued a citation for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision. Reporting party refused an ambulance and drove herself to PSMC after complaining of a hurt shoulder.
10:18 - Several individuals reported a little black bear at Fourth and Jefferson.
11:55 - Individual reported power issues at Primrose. Electric department notified.
Sept. 9
00:39 - Guardian Security called and advised that the south upper door alarm was going off at the harbor. Owner requested that officers cancel. Activation was due to the wind.
02:06 - Individual from the Yukon Bar advised that there was a group of people outside and there might be a problem. Officer found subjects were just talking.
10:13 - Verbal warning for parking lights issued in front of AVTEC.
10:30 - Individual reported that her vehicle was hit during the night across from Chinook’s in the north 72-hour parking lot.
10:40 - Individual reported a bear on the running trail next to the Seward Middle School.
11:09 - Individual reported that she lost her Lumix camera.
11:24 - Earthquake, magnitude 5.3, 40 miles east of Shemya at a depth of 73 miles. No tsunami was expected.
11:46 - Individual reported to an SPD officer that while in the north 72-hour parking lot, their car was damaged in an accident. The person who hit the vehicle left their information for the reporting party.
11:51 - 911 misdial.
11:53 - ADT reported an alarm in the 700 block of Port Avenue, Shoreside Petroleum. Officer contacted a subject, an Anchorage employee, who went into the building and did not know about the alarm.
11:56 - Individual requested that an officer talk to a subject about throwing dog food into the alley by Bayview Apartments for birds. Officer was unable to locate subject.
12:39 - Individual reported that bear was eating berries in the alley at Third and Madison.
14:27 - Individual reported that her little dog ran off around the waterfront. Reporting party called the ACO.
16:13 - Attempted to contact subject on F-float.
17:01 - Individual reported a bear behind the housing area on Fourth near AVTEC. Children were in the area.
17:01 - Individual reported youth throwing rocks at vehicles on Swetmann. Officer contacted parents.
17:02 - Individual reported children, 3 to 4 years old, were playing in the road on Bear Road behind Safeway. Two almost got hit by a vehicle. No parents were around. Officer contacted the same parents from the previous call.
17:07 - Individual reported a black bear around the Williams Park Area and headed toward the hills.
17:50 - Caller reported that a vehicle was swerving all over the road on Third, and turned down Sea Lion.
20:44 - Individual reported a black bear cub was walking around the alley by the 600 block of Sixth and Monroe.
20:48 - 911 caller reported that a male subject on a bike and wearing a red coat on Seward Highway was possibly intoxicated. He kept falling off his bike.
21:06 - 911 caller reported a black bear cub at the harbormaster’s office and headed toward Ray’s Restaurant.
21:12 - SAST reported a black bear in the ditch headed out of town by Sea Lion.
21:32 - Citation for speed issued to Boyden Paul Boyden on Seward Highway at Harbor.
21:59 - Verbal warning for headlight and improper display of tags issued on Seward Highway at Marina Motel.
22:31 - 911 caller reported a fight at Thorn’s. Officers contacted three people. Subject got into a cab and left on request. One subject was taken into protective custody.
23:34 - Individual reported that a female in a red Ford Focus flagged him down, and told him the passenger in the vehicle broke out her window and refused to get out of the vehicle. They drove off turning down Coolidge. Officers contacted the subject.
