Sally “Pat” Anderson Martin
Ten Sleep, Wyo. resident Sally Patricia Anderson Martin, 80, died on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings, Mont. surrounded by her family, and now rests in the tender arms of her Lord.
Sally was born on Sept. 27, 1931 in Ten Sleep, a daughter of Rouse Wellington and Zula Grace (Arnold) Anderson. She was raised on the family ranch near Ten Sleep and attended Ten Sleep schools.
She then attended the University of Wyoming where she graduated with a degree in elementary education. Sally then taught all grades kindergarten to sixth for the next 30 years, including 20 years in Alaska.
Sally married James “Jim” W. Martin on Nov. 25, 1950 in Sidney, Neb.
Sally loved to spend her spare time fishing, especially while living in Alaska. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and appreciated a good crossword puzzles and a lively games of cards.
Sally treasured her family including her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sister, nieces and nephews. She was adored by all of them as well. She will be remembered as dignified, gracious, brave and very witty woman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and by her brothers Robert Anderson and Jim Anderson.
Sally is survived by her children including her son James “Jim” (Jana) Martin of Loveland, Colo., and her daughters Pauline “Pam” (Sam “Trip”) Dunnuck of Laramie, Wyo. and Patricia “Patti” Russell of Greeley, Colo.; by her grandchildren Lorin Mahon, Suzanne Bower, Samuel R. Dunnuck IV, Joshua Martin, Hannah Stephens, Amity Martin, Marissa Russell and five great-grandchildren.
In addition she is survived by her brother Gene (Doris) Anderson and by her sister Shirley (Keith) Thurman and her sister-in law Gail Anderson all of Ten Sleep, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Sally will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 at at the Ten Sleep United Methodist Church with Rev. Huston Green officiating. A lunch and reception will follow the service.
The family requests that memorials in her name be made to either the Ten Sleep Ambulance at P. O. Box 5, Ten Sleep, WY 82442, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
