Middle school open house is tonight
Seward Middle School is holding an open house from 6:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30. The event is an opportunity to meet the middle school’s principal and teachers.
Chamber plans volunteer appreciation party
Seward Chamber of Commerce is holding a volunteer appreciation party from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Chinook’s Restaurant. Those attending are asked to wear Chamber of Commerce volunteer T-shirts and prizes will be awarded to the volunteer wearing the oldest volunteer T-shirt.
Civil Air Patrol holds open house
Seward CAP will hold an open house for prospective cadets, ages 12-18, and parents at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 followed by a barbeque at 6:30 p.m ., free for all community members. The recently completed operations center, the silver hanger on Airport Road, will be open for tours. SPD offers opportunity to safely dispose of medicines
An opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Safeway.
The Seward Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will coordinate the drug take back and the medications for disposal can be taken to Safeway Pharmacy on Sept. 29. The service is free and anonymous. No questions will be asked.
The Seward Police Department, in Seward City Hall at Fourth and Adams, accepts unused prescription medications for destruction anytime.
