23:36 - 911 caller from Seward Fisheries reported a male had his arm stuck in heavy machinery at the Icicle Seafood Fish House. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.
Aug. 6
05:52 - Citation for proof of insurance issued to Warner Merritt at Seward Highway and Sea Lion. Verbal warning issued for headlight.
06:08 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and C.
06:27 - Verbal warning issued for taillight at Safeway.
06:58 - Citation for brake light issued to John Bjorgaard on Port Avenue between Amerigas and Shoreside Petroleum.
07:09 - Excel Fire Systems would be working on the fire alarm systems at AVTEC on Third.
07:26 - Off duty officer reported a black SUV speeding southbound past the chamber and passing vehicles.
09:22 - Caller reported that sometime between midnight and 06:30 his vehicle was rifled through at Bayview Apartments. The only thing missing appeared to be his current insurance cards for the vehicle.
11:10 - Caller advised that around 14:30 they were taking supplies to a boat moored on O-float and had staged items at the head of the ramp. Person(s) unknown took a sea bag containing three sleeping bags and blankets.
11:44 - Alarms for the AVTEC facilities were back in service.
14:13 - Complaint received about a vehicle with a boat that was partially parked in the roadway and obstructing pedestrian traffic by Chinook’s.
14:28 - Three callers reported an intoxicated male who was falling down into traffic between Spenard Builders Supply and Seward Animal Clinic. Soldotna AST advised.
14:40 - City-wide power outage.
15:26 - Fire alarms received from Marina Motel. SVFD/SVAC dispatched. Manager accidentally activated trying to reset the system.
16:45 - Individual reported her son was having convulsions. SVAC/BCVFD toned.
16:59 - Individual reported her Nintendo 3DS was stolen from the TYC three weeks before.
18:13 - Individual reported that her daughter did not come home to Resurrection Campground the night before. She was possibly at a friend’s home. She was found at 19:28.
18:18 - Individual reported that her daughter pushed her and ran out of the house.
18:18 - Individual reported that a subject had furnished alcohol to minors.
19:09 - Individual stated that a female came over to his place and asked him to call police to respond to Bear Mountain Apartments. Suspect William Obrien was gone when officers arrived. Obrien was later arrested for DV Assault IV.
19:36 - Individual found a pair of bifocal eyeglasses on Mount Marathon by the bottom of the waterfall chute area.
22:41 - Verbal warning for headlight requirements issued on Seward Highway at Metco.
22:52 - Verbal warning for speed issued on Third at AVTEC.
23:09 - Citation for expired plates issued to Heather Thompson Seward Highway at the airport.
23:26 - Citation issued to Jordan Ludwig for failure to show proof of insurance at Safeway.
23:40 - Individual turned in a Samsung cell phone and case found at the Fish House.
23:50 - USCG advised two kayakers were requesting assistance near Aialik Glacier due to bear near their campsite on the shore. USCG contacted AST.
Aug. 7
00:15 - Citation for speed issued to Benjamin Suffrin at the chamber.
05:15 - Citation for no taillights issued to David Kaffke at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
05:41 - Citation for headlight out issued to William Gentry at Three Bears.
06:09 - Citation for headlight issued to Dennis Fogg Essential One. Verbal warning for trailer taillight out.
06:32 - Citations for headlight out and taillight out issued to Rudy Martinez at Mile 2 Seward Highway.
06:54 - Verbal warning for parking lights issued at the airport.
07:20 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Airport.
08:17 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Third and Van Buren.
08:30 - Verbal warning issued for speed, seatbelt and proof of insurance.
11:25 - 911 caller requested assistance transporting a female to the hospital because they were too weak to get into the car. SVAC dispatched.
12:00 - Individual reported that he lost a small black metal case with his driver’s license and credit card in it.
15:12 - Two calls received about a person being pulled on a skateboard by an older brown 4-door on Dora Way and Phoenix. Officers contacted subject and he was advised not to have people riding outside of a vehicle.
15:34 - A resident on Dora Way was advised to have the two vehicles, that were currently not registered, moved at least 10 feet off the roadway.
16:00 - Citation for failure to stop at stop sign issued at Seward Highway at Resurrection.
16:05 - Verbal warning for parking against the flow of traffic issued on Fourth at AVTEC.
16:26 - Individual reported from the Orca Building that she just witnessed a fight on the street. A female struck a male in the face and left in a vehicle. The male left on foot.
16:55 - Abandoned vehicle warning issued at Sea Lion at the food bank. The vehicle was unlocked and appeared to be empty.
17:22 - Individual reported a vehicle travelling about 50 mph down Port Avenue.
19:20 - 911 misdial reported by SAST.
Aug. 8
00:48 - Holiday Inn Express requested an officer for four intoxicated individuals who were being loud and caller wanted them to be escorted off the property. Officers made contact with the subjects and had a cab pick them up.
02:23 - 911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident with damage at Mill and Chamberlain streets. Officer made contact with the driver, and requested an ambulance for a passenger with an injured arm. SVFD/SVAC dispatched. Timirlan Tumanov was issued citation for driving at unsafe speed.
06:09 - Earthquake, magnitude 5.6, 55 miles southwest of Sand Point. No tsunami was expected.
06:18 - Warning for parking against the flow of traffic issued Hotel Seward.
06:26 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Fourth and B.
08:31 - Citation for speed issued to Charles Conides at Third and Van Buren.
08:38 - SVFD/SVAC dispatched to the AVTEC Culinary Arts building after Guardian Security received an alarm activation. Fire personnel found that a contractor hit a wire.
10:51 - Caller from PSMC advised that a subject, who had been on the floor for three days, called. Manager confirmed subject still lived there and would meet the responders.
14:21 - Two-hour power outage, for industrial customers only, on Nash Road to SMIC.
14:47 - Verbal warning issued to display current tags on a vehicle.
14:54 - Verbal warning issued for inoperable trailer lights.
15:01 - Individual reported that a 4- or 5-year-old child may have been left at home alone. Officer made contact with father and the child’s two siblings at Kimberly Court. Father was taking a nap.
16:17 - Citation for failure to register vehicle and failure to wear seat belt issued to Mathew Dotomain at Third and Dairy Hill.
21:11 - Individual reported that a vehicle that was northbound on Fourth through the harbor, had been parked near the Mariners’ Memorial and had the smell of marijuana coming from inside.
Aug. 9
01:29 - Warning for expired tags left on a vehicle on Fourth across from Tony’s.
05:30 - Individual reported that her vehicle was hit in the Safeway parking lot.
06:09 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Fourth and South Harbor.
08:43 - Earthquake, preliminary magnitude 5.2, 60 miles southwest of Cordova at a depth of 6 miles. No tsunami was generated.
11:00 - Individual reported that she lost her camera a couple of days before.
11:15 - Parks and Rec took a purse, that they found at the Skateboard Park, into SPD. There was no ID in the purse.
16:02 - 911 caller reported that her son had multiple seizures in a row and that they were currently in their vehicle heading to the hospital and were southbound on the Seward Highway near Hemlock.
16:55 - Individual from the coal terminal reported that they had lost one or two phases of the three phase power to their facility. Electric Department advised.
18:45 - 911 open line call.
20:51 - Individual requested that an officer talk to the Premier Tour busses about parking overnight in the area across from his residence at Ballaine Boulevard where it is marked “no overnight parking.”
21:40 - Individual turned into SPD a blue Adidas pack containing two prescription bottles and other items inside that she had found on the docks in the harbor.
22:39 - 911 open line call.
23:46 - Citation for speed issued to Curtis Dixon at Essential One parking lot.
Aug. 10
02:00 - Verbal warning for failure to come to a complete stop issued on Seward Highway at South Harbor.
06:29 - Warning for parking against the flow of traffic left on a vehicle in front of the Hotel Seward.
07:09 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Sterling Hall on the Seward Highway at Nash Road. Hall was also given a verbal warning to change his driver’s license to Alaska.
07:41 - Warning for parking in a no parking zone left on a vehicle at Fourth and Washington.
09:17 - 911 pocket dial.
09:53 - Individual reported they would be working on the alarms at AVTEC Culinary Arts building and would call when done.
10:38 - Earthquake, preliminary magnitude 6.3, 70 miles southeast of Nikolski. No tsunami generated.
10:45 - Individual reported they lost a grey Kelty backpack containing rain gear on the beach front.
10:45 - Individual advised that they lost a gray Rebel camera somewhere in Seward.
11:08 - Caller advised that there was a motor vehicle accident with damage at the Kenai Fjords Tours parking lot on Phoenix.
12:38 - Citation for failure to register vehicle and failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Darren Lackey. Verbal warnings issued for different plate, no front bumper or plate, window tint, oversize tires and no registration in vehicle
13:23 - Caller advised that someone was attempting to vandalize a van parked on Washington. Described as possibly a male wearing green khaki pants.
13:23 - (D)Josh Mahiai arrested on an outstanding SAST warrant for failure to comply with arraignment. (OC/DUI/Criminal Mischief, Bail, PTRP-ASAP, bail $500.)
13:23 - Mahaia arrested on the warrant and also charged with criminal mischief after he admitted to hitting and denting the vehicle in several places.
14:15 - Burn permit issued to the residence at Latouche Circle. He would be burning in the fire pit for most the weekend.
16:10 - 911 pocket dial.
16:59 - Individual reported that a vehicle was speeding through the Harbor Campgrounds.
18:00 - 911 open line call.
19:00 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Third and D.
20:45 - Individual reported losing 3-5 keys, one a Ford key, on a red key chain between Ballaine and the harbor.
Aug. 11
00:55 - Verbal warning issued for driving with high beams on.
01:12 - AST arrested Daniel Becker for DWLR while driving on Nash Road. He was transported to SCJ.
01:21 - An ambulance was requested to Breeze Inn Motel for a male with blood in his stool. He was taking a blood thinner and his physician advised he go to the emergency room.
03:33 - Individual reported loud people near her home. Officer found that all of the people were of age and agreed to leave for the night.
06:00 - An officer shot two rounds with a shotgun to open the Seward Silver Salmon Derby.
06:24 - Verbal warning for headlight out issued at Third and Van Buren.
06:39 - Verbal warning for parking lights issued at the Breeze Inn parking lot.
06:43 - Citation for speed issued to Ricky Willis on Seward Highway near Coolidge.
16:05 - Citation for proof of insurance issued to Tobias Radke at Seward Highway and Van Buren. Also, a warning for speed was issued.
16:12 - Previously reported runaway was located and returned to parents.
17:14 - Individual reported that a pit bull was at the skate park and unleashed. The dog did not appear aggressive and returns when the children call it.
18:58 - Motor vehicle accident with damage at Harbor Campgrounds.
19:51 - Verbal warning issued for no license plate on trailer at Seward Highway and North Harbor Drive.
20:17 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Mile 2 Seward Highway.
21:41 - Individual reported his wife left to go to the post office from their residence the day before (was waiting for a cab) and she had not been seen since. Last seen wearing a black jacket and gray jeans. Contact was later made with the female who advised she left town for evening.
23:17 - SAST requested that an officer stand by during field sobriety tests at Salmon Creek and Nash roads. William W. Johnson arrested for DWOL, giving false information and MICS VI.
Aug. 12
06:22 - 911 open line call.
07:35 - 911 open line call.
07:39 - Individual with Resurrection Bay Seafoods requested an officer for people who had thrown trash from their vehicle and were sleeping in the vehicle on RBS property. Officer advised subjects that they were trespassing and had littered on RBS property. They cleaned up the litter and left the area.
08:30 - Multiple 911 calls were received about a shuttle bus on fire at Mile 30 Seward Highway. The driver and all passengers were out of the vehicle and uninjured, but the vehicle was fully involved. MPVFD dispatched and requested mutual aid from BCVFD, which was then dispatched along with SVAC.
09:02 - Caller reported that she had caught an adult male peeping in the windows of her residence in Clear View Subdivision around 02:15. She described him as approximately 5’10” and 180 pounds, but was unable to give more descriptors because he had been running away. She stated that he may even be going as far as opening her front door and that there was a possibility it had happened multiple times over the last week. She requested that officers do extra patrols of the area during the night if possible.
10:09 - Individual from the University of Alaska Fairbanks labs reported that there was a camper parked on their property at Railway and refusing to leave. Officer spoke with the campers who agreed to leave.
11:30 - Individual reported that she spoke to her boyfriend approximately two hours before, and he had made statements about being suicidal. Since that time someone had contacted his mother about finding his cell phone near the Lowell Creek waterfall and she was worried that he had jumped. Officer found her boyfriend who had returned to find his lost phone. Officer advised that he seemed in high spirits, was sober and stated that he had no intention of harming himself.
12:40 - Two 911 callers reported two kayaks off of Lowell Point Road, and one of the kayakers was in the water and having trouble getting back in to his kayak. The kayakers had broadcasted over the Marine VHF channel 16 earlier in the day that they would be doing training in the water.
13:34 - Caller reported that someone hit a black bear with their vehicle at approximately Mile 20 Seward Highway. SAST advised.
14:52 - 911 caller requested an ambulance for herself. She stated that she was in her vehicle on the Seward Highway near Herman Leirer Road and having an asthma attack without her inhaler. She was able to speak but was obviously having a hard time breathing. SVAC and BCVFD dispatched.
21:08 - Individual at Fourth of July Beach found an unattended fire which he put out.
21:39 - Individual reported that a vehicle was driving down the sidewalk at Safeway and headed toward town.
21:44 - A vehicle struck another in the parking lot at Ray’s Waterfront. The first vehicle then left the scene.
