Fire department warns about smoker fires
Fish and meat smokers can be the cause of fires if not positioned properly, warns the Seward Fire Department.
The Big Chief type of smokers are hot and if set on a flamable surface, like a deck, can cause a fire to start.
The department, and smoker manufacturers, recommond using smokers on a non-flamable surface like concrete.
So far this year the department has been called to a couple fires that were started by smokers.
