Temporary closure at job center
The Seward Job Center will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 6 and 7, and re-open at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 8. The center will be open regular hours, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 9. On Friday, Aug. 10 the center will open at 8 a.m.0 and close at 3:30 p.m. For assistance during the closures, people can contact the Peninsula Job Center at 800-478-9032.
Health services offered
Seward Public Health Center will be open for limited hours in August. The center asks that parents and guardians plan ahead for school vaccinations. Visiting nurse Tami Marsters, PHN will visit Seward Public Health Center Aug. 7-9. A walk-in clinic will be held 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. on Aug. 8. Appointments are available for Aug. 7 and 9. Call 224-5567 for appointments or information. The center is at 201 Third, Suite 200. The services are offered on a sliding fee scale, but those who are unable to pay will not be denied services.
Quilters feature Lisa Moore
Kenai Peninsula Quilting Guild is sponsoring a trunk show and lecture by Lisa Moore on Friday, Aug. 10. Moore, an award winning designer and quilter resides in Sitka. She has taught classes in Alaska, Florida and on an Alaska quilt cruise. “The Quilters Magazine” has featured Moore’s quilts several times. The trunk show and lecture is at 7 p.m., Aug. 10 at Christ Lutheran Church, 128 Soldotna Ave., Soldotna. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
