Begich to visit July 5

 


U.S. Sen. Mark Begich will be in Seward next Thursday, July 5 to meet with local officials and talk about port expansion. As a champion in the U.S. Senate of small port development, Sen. Begich has met with many different parties who are interested in port expansion in Seward and other Alaska cities, according to a press release from the senator’s office. Seward city officials will take Sen. Begich on a tour of the port and talk about the development and expansion needs. The City of Seward will offer a chance to meet with the senator at 12:30 p.m. July 5 in council chambers. The city council and the public are invited. The senator looks forward to getting a first-hand look at the port expansion prospects in Seward and meeting with key stakeholders to get a better understanding of the city’s plans and ideas, said the press release.
