Murals get the clearcoat treatment

Dot Bardarson

Volunteers with the Seward Mural Society of the Seward Arts Council apply clearcoat to three murals on Saturday. They are to be mounted around town before the Independence Day festivities. The three murals are re-makes of previously created murals that had degraded from the weather. The coating, that is designed to protect automobiles from the effects of rough weather, is expected to prolong the life of the murals.

The three re-done murals are the Mount Marathon mural by Susan Swiderski which was painted during last falls’ Seward Music and Art Festival, the “Apologies to Rockwell Kent” design that is a patchwork of sorts and a new design by Jennifer Headtke for the middle position on The Ranting Raven.
