Super Saturday Clean Up thank you

Letter to the editor

Seward Parks and Recreation hosted the Annual Super Saturday Clean-Up Saturday May 12. Due to the outstanding efforts of the community and the support of our sponsors — BP who sponsored the awards barbecue and the Alaska Waste who gathered all of the numbered filled bags and tallied them up. The rain fortunately held off until evening. For the clean-up we had 35 participants registered as individuals or groups picking up close to 200 bags of trash.

Thank you to all of the community for your support! Thanks to local businesses for donating a over $500 worth of prizes to participants: Apollo’s, AVTEC, AARP, Christo’s, First National Bank Alaska, Icicle Seafoods, Irvin Pottery, Qutekcak, SeaView, Shoreside, Sunny Cove Kayaking, Ray’s Waterfront, Resurrect Art and Wells Fargo.

Special thanks to the guys at Alaska Waste who hauled away all the trash.

Congrats to Mrs. Flowers class who won the classroom competition. And kudos to those classes that participated in the cleanup from Seward Elementary and to all the individuals who helped beautify Seward. The town definitely improved its appearance over the weekend.
