The celebration of Seward’s first 100 years as a city commenced with a Kickoff Celebration on Tuesday before the city council meeting with a cake decorated with a commemorative seal of the city. Also, a public reception is planned for 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 1, the date in 1912 when Seward became a city, in the Seward Community Library basement with former and current mayors and council members as guests of honor. More events are planned for the coming year.
