Alaska Shop, Summer 1943

The Alaska Shop, owned by Mrs. Lillian James, was one of the buildings burned in the fire of Nov. 23/24, 1941.
Mrs. James was one of the original party that founded Seward on Aug. 28, 1903 (at that time she was Lillian Gordon) and was the first postmaster of Seward.
She rebuilt the Alaska Shop after the fire and opened it for business in June 1943.
