May 10

01:08 - Verbal warning for Inoperable Tailight issued at Three Bears parking lot.

03:10 - An employee at the Breeze Inn called 911 to report that a female came in and stated she had been raped. Officer responded. Victim was taken to Providence Seward Medical Center.

08:52 - Officer reported a large German Shepherd was running around Harbor Light Condos. Animal Control Officer was notified and responded.

13:52 - 911 misdial from Phoenix Road. All sounded OK in background. Information given to officer.

18:25 - Seward Police Department received a black bifold wallet with identification and miscellaneous cards. Owner contacted and would pick up wallet.

May 11

07:59 - Individual reported a dead seagull next to The Coffee Cup. The Alaska SeaLife Center was notified and would pick it up.

08:54 - Individual reported that a stop sign was down at the intersection of Stoney Creek and Seward Highway. Alaska Department of Transportation notified.

09:05 - Individual requested an ambulance to the Harbormaster’s Office for a 14-year-old female in anaphylactic shock.

13:14 - Individual reported a black and white husky following him next to the Chamber of Commerce headed south. Police officer and Animal Control Officer responded. Animal Control Officer stated that she had had multiple issues with the dog.

13:59 - Road closed signs were posted on Adams between Fourth and Fifth.

14:00 - 911 misdial. All sounded OK in the background. Information given to officer.

16:46 - Verbal warning issued at 4 Seasons boat yard.

17:15 - Citation for Passing In A No Passing Zone issued to Joseph Hillyer at Mile 6.5 Seward Highway.

17:23 - Report of a cat locked in a house that had been foreclosed on at Marathon Drive. Animal Control Officer contacted and information relayed.

19:20 - Verbal warning for Speed issued on Seward Highway near Safeway.

19:28 - Verbal warning for Speed issued at Fourth and Madison.

May 12

00:18 - Tony’s Bar requested an officer for a fight in progress. Officers contacted Alex Sullivan and arrested him on Soldotna Alaska State Trooper warrant for Failure To Appear on an Assault IV charge.

02:26 - Verbal warning issued for Failure To Stop At Stop Sign on the Seward Highway near Sea Lion.

08:45 - Individual reported the power was out at Celestial Street. Electric advised.

08:47 - Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department requested Seward Fire Department be primary callout for BCVFD area till about 16:00 hours while they were at Mile 13 for training.

12:24 - Individual advised of a male walking on the train tracks just south of Metco. Officer responded and unable to locate anyone on the tracks in the area.

12:50 - Alaska State Troopers requested an officer to assist trooper at a traffic stop at Seward and North Harbor. Officer responded. Roger Hayward arrested for DWLR and transported to Seward Community Jail.

18:05 - Individual reported the power was out at Old Exit Glacier Road. Electric crew advised.

19:36 - Sean Spiers contacted reference case follow-up. Spiers was found to have violated his probation. Spiers was remanded to Seward Community Jail for Petition to Revoke Probation per Probation Officer Myers.

20:44 - 911 caller said that she didn’t know where her 4-year-old son was and that she thought he might be with the baby sitter. It was determined that the son was with the baby sitter and was waiting for caller to return home. Caller’s PBT was .340. She was transported to Providence Seward Medical Center, then placed into Protective Custody and transported to Seward Community Jail.

21:10 - Earthquake, preliminary magnitude 4.0, 55 miles northwest of Homer at a depth of 76 miles. No tsunami warning or generation were expected.

May 13

08:54 - Lost female Pomeranian dog reported. Rust color, goes by the name Noogie. Lost in town. Last seen at Diamond and Sea Lion.

12:00 - Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department requested Seward Fire Department be primary callout for BCVFD area till about 17:00 hours while they were training.

17:42 - 911 misdial from 2500 block of Maple. Pocket dial.

17:43 - 911 call came in from Providence Seward Medical Center. Disconnected.

20:58 - Rabbit hit on road across from Seward Insurance. Its back legs were broken.

21:28 - Caller reported that Noogie had been located.

23:27 - Samsung phone found at Liberty Theater. Owner would pick it up the next day.

May 14

05:40 - Parking warning for improper parking left on a vehicle in the 300 block of Third.

09:23 - Individual from Bayside Apartments reported that during the night someone sprayed a fire extinguisher in the laundry room and they would like an officer. Officer responded and found that there was $250 in damage from the fire extinguisher being discharged.

11:10 - Seward Middle School called to advise that they would conduct their final fire drill at about 11:10.

11:12 - Individual reported that he found a dog around the airport area and would like to have Animal Control Officer contact him. ACO given the message.

14:13 - 911 abandoned call from TelAlaska. Technicians from TelAlaska confirmed that they were switching something over and rang 911. All is OK and information was given to officer.

14:19 - Individual reported that he lost his wallet. Later the reporting party called to report that he found his wallet.

14:24 - Individual waved down an officer in the Safeway parking lot. Vehicle came as stolen out of Valdez. Officer contacted Valdez Police Department and found that the information was faulty. Subject advised that he only has an Alaskan ID card and no valid driver’s license.

19:00 - Found cell phone returned to owner.

21:15 - Caller reported his keys have been taken by his PCA.

23:10 - 911 caller reported a vehicle was doing burnouts outside Pacific Park Apartments. No tag, possibly platinum/beige SUV with two persons in it.

May 15

08:36 - Individual advised that he was going work on the fire system at the Breeze Inn and several other businesses that day. He would advise when all is back running.

08:44 - Electrical Department called to advise that there would be a scheduled power outage between 09:00 and 13:00. Crown Point and Lawing would be affected.

11:34 - Individual reported a male in a black three-piece suit driving the Hotel Seward’s green vehicle was messing around with the track switcher at the Airport Road. Officer and Alaska Railroad notified. Officer responded and was unable to locate. Contacted the Hotel Seward and they advised that the railroad crews are contracted to use their vehicle to work on the railroad tracks.

12:03 - Individual reported a green mini van speeding around the area of Bear Drive. Officer responded and was unable to locate.

13:40 - Individual reported a large dark colored military plane flying north to south over Seward.

13:47 - Officer requested a case number for a motor vehicle accident with damage that happened April 25 and involved a patrol unit.

13:52 - Individual reported a male in a black hoodie with a yellow stripe was walking from Dora Way to Third. Reporting party stated that the male looked to be possibly casing houses. Information passed to officer.

15:00 - Individual reported that her credit card had been charged $18,000 without her knowledge.

17:06 - Vehicle on Iron Drive impounded as abandoned vehicle.

17:23 - Individual requested information on how to get gas to his son who was on a boat headed for Seward.

21:04 - 911 misdial in which individual was trying to unlock a cell phone and it dialed 911.

22:17 - Guardian Security reporting audible front door alarm going off Third. Call cancelled by Security Company

22:49 - Bouncer at Yukon Bar reported a male, approximately 6’1” and wearing a white cowboy hat, was walking down Fourth, and was intoxicated and throwing a skateboard around. Subject was contacted and released to his mother.

23:30 - Caller reported people at the skateboard park were making noise and it is suppose to be closed at 23:00.

23:40 - Caller reported that two moose were on the road between Sea Lion and Hemlock


May 16

00:23 - 911 caller reported four intoxicated males that were yelling at people as they walked by at the Fish House. Officers responded and males left in a cab.

05:58 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to the 10000 block of Bear Paw for a female having chest pains. BCVFD/SVAC dispatched.

07:03 - Earthquake, magnitude 4.7, 10 miles southwest of Anchorage at a depth of 35 miles. No tsunami was expected.

08:27 - Individual advised that he would again be working on the Breeze Inn fire systems and stated that he would advise when he is done. Individual advised that he was done working on the fire systems as of 14:00

09:20 - Individual advised that city hall would have a fire drill at 09:30. All staff had been notified.

10:48 - Fire officer issued a burn permit for a residence at Oak and Ash. Permit was good for the day only and normal conditions applied.

13:00 - Officers escorted a parade from Fourth Avenue Pavilion to Seward Middle School on Sea Lion.

13:30 - Street Department advised that Fourth from Adams to Railway would be closed the next morning for cleaning.

17:18 - Verbal warning for Speed issued at Third and Monroe.

20:45 - Report of banging and screaming coming from Glacierview Apartments by neighbor. Officer made contact and all was fine.

21:03 - Citation for Expired Registration issued to vehicle parked in front of Railway Cantina.

May 17

00:18 - AVTEC requested an officer to respond for one of their students possibly passed out in his vehicle. Officer made contact with Devin Bertholl and transported him to Providence Seward Medical Center due to extreme intoxication. After being cleared there, he was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Minor Consuming Alcohol. He was transported to Seward Community Jail. PBT .217.

01:12 - AVTEC requested that the officer return for another student possibly drinking and under age. Officer responded, contacted Fenton Grennan IV and issued him a summons for minor consuming. PBT .140

03:51 - A female requested an officer to J Dock. She stated a male had just tried to get on to her boat. After she yelled at him to leave, he did, but officer responded to assure her that all is safe. It was someone accidentally getting on the wrong boat.

04:50 - Citation for Parking Where Prohibited issued to Floyd and Sons, Inc while parked at Fourth and Washington.

08:34 - Fire Department issued a burn permit to Alaska Waste at 3200 Dimond for the day only. Normal conditions applied.
