Alton “Al” Wilson Hopkins
Alton “Al” Wilson Hopkins, age 73. After a battle with lung cancer, Al went to his eternal home on April 20, 2012, to be with his Lord Jesus Christ.
Al was born in Pumbico, Nova Scotia, Canada on Aug. 1, 1938. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant. He served in Florida, North Africa, Oregon, Korea, Texas and Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska.
He married Christine Pruett Hopkins on Aug. 3, 1963. They lived in the Muldoon area and then moved to Seward. Al worked at the Wood Hobby Shop in Seward for the Air Force (1981 to 1989). He worked for the military resort – both the Air Force side and the Army side.
Al was known for his wood crafting, for tying fishing flies, for his love of fishing, and for having a giving heart — willing to help out when anyone had a need.
Al is dearly loved and missed by his wife, Christine, daughter Kimberly, son Alton, grandsons Shane and Justin Thomassen, and granddaughter Kendra Hostasman.
There will be a memorial for Al at 2 p.m. May 5th at the Resurrection Christian Church, 520 Fourth, Seward.
