Police LOG — March 22, 2012

 


March 12

09:12 - Subject requested that someone contact her mother at the Marina Motel due to a family emergency. Contact was made and the message passed. Expressed their thanks for the assistance.

09:45 - Purse/walled found, and entered into lost and found book. Owner would go into SPD in the following couple days to claim the items.

09:41 - Alaska Railroad advised that they had people on the way to repair the damaged crossing equipment in the Bear Lake and Questa Woods areas.

14:14 - Verbal warning issued for Stop Sign.

16:33 - Verbal warning issued for Expired License. Passenger who had a valid license was allowed to drive the vehicle.

18:27 - SVFD/SVAC dispatched to Spring Creek Correctional Center for a subject with CPR in progress. Subject was transported to the hospital.

22:45 - Citation for Taillight issued to Chase Clancy at Gateway Apartments parking lot. Verbal warning issued for License Plate.

22:48 - Individual reported hearing loud banging at the firehall. Officer responded.

March 13

01:43 - Yukon Bar requested an officer for an intoxicated female who refused to leave. Officers responded, made contact with subject, placed her into Protective Custody and transported her to Seward Community Jail.

06:28 - Warning issued for Parking Against Flow Of Traffic in the 400 block at Third.

16:00 - Individual requested an officer to contact her son and advise him not to return to her apartment at Little Bear Mountain Apartments. He also lives at there. At 16:30 subject called and spoke with officer. He was issued his advisement not to go back to his mother’s apartment unless she invites him.

16:35 - Owner of a found wallet retrieved the item.

17:57 - 911 caller reported a male subject, who had a strong odor of alcohol, was at the checkout counter of Essential One. He got into a truck with City Express on the side. Officer contacted John Hoogland in the Essential One parking lot. Hoogland was arrested for DUI.

23:05 - Verbal warning for Headlight issued on Seward Highway between Sea Lion and Hemlock.

March 14

01:54 - 911 caller on King Arthur Road wanted to know who to call for medical advice. Reporting party will call Providence Seward Medical Center.

04:55 - Ambulance requested to Phoenix for a male having difficulty breathing. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

07:14 - Verbal warning for Headlights issued at Seward Highway and Nash Road.

09:45 - SVFD officer responded to Van Buren to investigate a possible gas leak. RESCUE 2 was toned after a propane leak was discovered. The area was then ventilated under SVFD supervision.

15:09 - Street Closed signs placed on Fourth and Fifth from Jefferson to Railway. Crews would start at 4 am.

19:59 - Verbal warning for Headlights issued at Seward Highway and Hemlock.

23:56 - Individual advised that a fight was in progress at the Marina Motel. Officer arrived, made contact with two subjects who had no injuries and stated they were just wrestling. Both subjects were issued Disorderly Conduct warnings.

March 15

00:05 - Officer observed a taxi stuck in the roadway near Murphy’s Motel and stopped to assist with getting it unstuck.

06:47 - Six parking tickets were issued for parking where signs were posted prohibiting parking for snow removal in the downtown area.

09:03 - Avalanche control planned for Mile 90 to 99 Seward Highway. Delays of up to 45 minutes expected between 08:30 and 11:00.

09:35 - Parking complaint received on a red pickup in the alley between Second and Third, and Adams and Jefferson. Officer responded and there were several individuals trying to dig the vehicle out.

09:57 - Slides had been cleared on Lowell Point Road and Metco had been advised.

11:32 - Bridge repair was taking place in the area between Ptarmigan Creek and Trail Lake on the Seward Highway. Single lane traffic, short delays and flagging operations expected from 07:00 to 17:00, Monday through Friday.

11:46 - David Getz advised that he was criminally trespassed from Safeway for one year and that his driver’s license was revoked. He was given advisements for both.

15:59 - Signs were placed, closing the streets, on Fourth and Fifth from Jefferson to Railway for crews clearing road at 04:00.

17:43 - Individual reported that another driver slid on the ice and hit the side of his vehicle license in the Safeway parking lot. Subject stated he did not have insurance and left after exchanging information. Par forms issued to reporting party at the police station and officer gave subject a verbal warning for Failure To Insure at Camelot Cottages.

22:59 - Individual standing outside of the building said that her friends left her and she didn’t have any place to go. Officer made contact with subject and decided she was not able to care for herself in the current conditions. Placed in Protective Custody. PBT .100

23:00 - Individual requested that police do a welfare check on her ex-husband. Unable to locate the current address. Advised subject to call Troopers.

March 16

00:05 - Three callers reported hearing possible gunshots. Each person thought it was coming from a different area. Officers were advised.

04:53 - Six parking tickets were issued for parking where signs were posted prohibiting parking for snow removal in the downtown area.

04:53 - Citation for Failure To Register Vehicle issued at Fourth and Railway.

10:33 - Caller from Seward Mountain Haven advised that they would conduct two or three 911 test calls before noon.

11:18 - Citation issued for Parking Where Posted Prohibited for snow removal in the 200 block of Fifth.

13:22 - Public Works called about vehicle in the North Harbor parking lot that was hindering snow removal. Officer placed the abandoned vehicle notice on the vehicle and was unable to contact registered owner.

14:45 - 911 call from Thorn’s Showcase for a male breathing and not conscious. SVAC/SVFD dispatched.

18:27 - Power outage in the area of Twin Peaks (Old Exit Glacier Road) for about 20 minutes to repair a line. Back on at 19:41 hours.

22:20 - Troopers dispatched an avalanche at Turnagain Pass with one person injured. MPVFD, Cooper Landing Fire/EMS, Trooper responded. RCC also launched helocopter.

March 17

00:06 - Alaska Railroad reported that a train hit a moose at the crossing by the cemetery off Salmon Creek. Troopers advised.

00:14 - Verbal warning for Failure To Dim High Beams issued at Seward Highway and Coolidge.

02:07 - Troopers received a 911 call for a disturbance at Camelot Cabins. Trooper responded and made contact with individual who advised that subject had left the residence for the night.

10:54 - Individual requested a welfare check on his roommate who was talking about suicide and was taking medication for depression. Reporting party went to Providence Seward Medical Center and talked with SeaView but was still concerned for her welfare. Officer made contact with reporting party at PSMC and roommate at Glacierview Apartments and advised them to call SeaView.

12:18 - 911 call received from Seward Mountain Haven and determined it was just a pocket dial. Officers notified.

14:52 - Vehicle Theft I and Criminal Mischief III charges applied to a case involving Josh Mahiai.

16:23 - Individual reported that fuel had been siphoned out of the fuel tank next to his house in the 400 block of Fourth. Officer responded and found approximately 10 gallons had been taken sometime between 22:00 on March 16 and 15:30 on March 17. Officer was unable to locate any identifiable footprints.

17:14 - Christopher Zeutzius arrested for Assault 4/Domestic Violence and remanded at the Seward Community Jail.

17:22 - Off-duty officer reported an individual whose driver’s license was revoked was driving vehicle on the Seward Highway southbound at approximately Mile 28. Officer made contact with vehicle and found another individual driving.

19:15 - Individual took items into SPD that he found on the street. Items were returned to owner.

21:02 - Individual reported the bell at St. Peters Church and she needed assistance in shutting it off. Fire department advised and responded.

March 18

00:06 - Two 911 hang up calls were received from 200 block of Benson. Officer responded to investigate. After officer arrived at the residence and individual answered a call back and advised that all was OK. He advised he had children in the residence who may have been playing with the phone.

01:15 - A driver for Mike’s Taxi called to report and a fight in progress involving multiple people at in the 1100 block of Dairy Hill. Officer responded and after talking with the parties they separated for the night.

04:27 - Individual went into SPD to report that a female advised her that her boyfriend had assaulted her. Immediately after that, a Hotel Seward staff member requested SPD assistance removing the same male due to threats. Officers responded to the Hotel Seward and arrested Randon Berg for Violating Conditions Of Release. He was to have no contact with subject and they shared the hotel room. Berg was transported to Seward Community Jail.

19:51 - Seward Fisheries advised that they would be doing a fire drill at 10:00.

12:19 - Hotel Seward requested that an officer accompany Mr. Berg to retrieve his belongings from the room. Officer responded.

16:50 - Troopers requested an officer to respond to the first curve on Nash Road for a vehicle that rolled and unknown injuries to the driver. Trooper en route from Mile 26 Seward Highway. Trooper was detained at Mile 9 Seward Highway and requested officer on scene to take the accident.

17:15 - Trooper requested officer take the above accident. He was at another roll over at Mile 9 Seward Highway.

20:52 - Individual reported a blue F150 pickup tailgated him from Mile 17 to Mile 7 Seward Highway and then passed doing over 80 mph. Information given to officer.

21:02 - Troopers advised the reporting party was in a gray Dodge Stratus 4-door traveling southbound from Mile 27 Seward Highwayand a gray Silverado extended cab pickup was tailgating him and flashing high beams at him and acting in a threatening manner. Troopers were on another call. Troopers requested an officer to wait at city limits if they came into town.Unable to locate vehicle.
