SMS wrestlers host action packed duals tournament

Seward Middle School wrestling team hosted aday of exciting dual meets at Seward High School on Feb. 11. A visiting squad of 42 wrestlers from Kodiak, who took a long journey by ferry and an arduous bus ride from Homer, joined Kenai, Nikiski, Soldotna, Homer, Voznesenka and other Peninsula schools filling the gym with non-stop grappling action from start to finish.

In addition to the three full full rounds of double-dualing on the twin mats in the main gym, an additional mat upstairs kept up almost continual action throughout the entire afternoon.
Seward Middle School wrestled on a combined Seward/Homer lineup and continued to impress onlookers with their aggressive style and impressive pins. Going undefeated in dual meet action were Sully Hauze, Jonathan Kingsland, Matt Morris, Isaac Osborn, Thomas Zweifel and Justin Schutter.
Seward Middle School’s wrestlers finished their season over the weekend by traveling to Kenai to compete in the boroughs championship.
