Jan. 26
11:51 - Individual reported a silver truck speeding on Seward Highway. Officer advised. Vehicle was parked before officer could respond.
16:00 - On Friday and Saturday night there would be approximately 60 children and chaperones staying at the Seward Elementary. Any alarms or calls are a full tone out.
18:12 - Loose canine reported in the alley area behind Liberty Theatre and Oriental Gardens. Animal Control Officer was advised but was unable to locate.
20:21 - Verbal warning for Headlight and Registration issued. Operator advised not to drive the vehicle again until properly registered.
Jan. 27
23:55 (Jan. 26), 00:01 and 00:06 - Several calls received from a GCI cell phone with no contact number. The first call a hang up with a male and female arguing in the background. On the second call a female was heard to say, “You hit me two nights in a row.” The third call was a man who stated he called the wrong number but everything was OK. The male caller would not give any information. Contacted GCI and TelAlaska to have them trace the calls to find the number and locations of the calls. Neither company found caller’s number or location.
00:52 - 911 call from Safeway’s elevator. Talked to reporting party and he was trapped between floors, but was able to get out and all was OK. On call back it was confirmed that he was out and OK.
06:45 - Caller reported a calf in the road between 1620 and 1623 Highway 34 in Seward, Nebraska. Information given to Seward Nebraska Police Department.
06:59 - A parking notice for Parking With The Flow Of Traffic was left on a vehicle on Third next to AVTEC.
16:13 - 911 caller from Thorn’s reported a male fell and was bleeding from his nose and mouth, and possibly having a seizure.
20:29 - Officer located garbage in the road between Hemlock and Sea Lion and removed it.
23:34 - Individual reported a male carrying a shotgun by the AVTEC Culinary Arts Academy. He started to go up the steps with the reporting party looking at him. Officers located subject. He only had air soft weapons.
23:55 - Individual stated she felt a dog was being abused and neglected between Second and Third, and Adams. Officers contacted individuals on Third and gave them the Animal Control Officer number.
Jan. 28
00:29 - Individual from the Yukon Bar requested an officer in reference to a stolen purse that had been found with no money in it. Officer contacted reporting party and found that she had her ID card and $80 cash stolen from her purse. Case issued for investigation.
00:51 - Verbal warning issued for Speed on Seward Highway next to Seward Chamber of Commerce.
01:30 - Citation for Expired Registration issued to Laurentia Albert at Fourth and Madison.
03:34 - Individual reported that the sewer was backing up into Little Bear Mountain Apartments. Waste/Water Department notified.
09:59 - Two 911 calls from Glacierview. Officer arrived and determined that subjects were having a verbal disagreement.
10:24 - Fire officer advised Seward Police Department Dispatch of a carbon monoxide alarm sounding at the Methodist church. Determined it was a faulty detector and had no registry of carbon monoxide.
14:05 - Individual reported a puppy running loose around a tied up dog between Second and Third, and Washington and Adams. Message left with Animal Control Officer.
14:40 - Officer observed a vehicle stopped at the intersection of Seward Highway and Bear Drive. Officer made contact with subject who out of gas.
14:56 - Individual stated that she was receiving unwanted cell phone calls. Information given to officer.
16:00 - Caller stated that a moose was hit by a small sedan at Mile 5.5 Seward Highway. The vehicle was in the ditch and the moose was agitated and bleeding from its head. BCVFD/SVAC toned out and officer dispatched the moose. The driver had injuries and was driven in a POV to the hospital. Operations chief cancelled responding units. Trooper arrived on scene. Glacier Towing responded.
17:57 - 911 caller wanted to document that an individual came to her apartment above the Alehouse and stated she still had the keys to the cabin she rented from him at Camelot. She left there two weeks before and did not have the keys. She wanted it documented in case there were further contacts.
22:39 - Seward Providence Medical Center requested an ambulance for a Life Crew transport.
Jan. 29
01:05 - 911 open-line call from Oak Street, Providence Seward Medical Center. No answer on call back. Contacted all four lodges at Mountain Haven and everything was OK. Information given to officers.
07:00 - Individual reported that the tires on her vehicle had been slashed. Officer inspected the vehicle and found no vehicle damage.
16:59 - Individual reported two dogs were running free around Second and Washington. Animal Control Officer notified.
17:08 - BCVFD reported 192 was back in service area.
22:27 - 911 hang up/misdial from a juvenile. Determined that his brother accidentally called. Officer responded.
23:14 - Individual stated that a possibly intoxicated person was near the first bridge on Nash Road. Soldotna Alaska State Troopers notified.
23:15 - Verbal warnings for Taillights and Vehicle Registration issued on Phoenix near Barwell.
Jan. 30
00:05 - Officer advised a person was brought by cab to Providence Seward ER with possible frostbite. Subject was thought to be the intoxicated person from the earlier Nash Road call.
00:55 - PSMC requested an officer to speak with an intoxicated person. Officers responded and transported subject to Seward Community Jail for protective custody.
10:09 - Philip Valenza arrested by Alaska State Troopers on two warrants. One for Failure To Appear and the second for Failure To Obey Citation. Valenza transported to Seward Community Jail.
16:33 - Individual advised there was a moose near the elementary school. Officer responded to make sure the children were unharmed.
Jan. 31
01:04 - Simplex Grinnell Alarm Company reported a burglary alarm on Oak. Officers searched and secured the building.
07:30 - Verbal warning for Taillight Requirements issued near Seward High School.
08:08 - Seward Elementary School advised they would conduct a fire drill at 08:10.
12:35 - Seward Middle School advised they would conduct a fire drill at 13:40.
16:10 - Individual stated the water pipes were frozen at his residence in the 600 block of First. Waste/Water would check on it.
16:21 - Individual reported a red and white pickup truck abandoned in the lane of traffic on Dimond. Fire officer spoke with the registered owner earlier in the day who stated the registered owner had called a wrecker. Dispatch contacted Glacier Towing who was in Anchorage. He was en route back to Seward and would get it when he returned in a couple of hours. At 19:42 Glacier Towing arrived on scene to remove the vehicle.
16:26 - Individual from AVTEC requested an officer to meet with him and a counselor to do a welfare check on a student. After talking with counselor, it was determined to be a civil issue and they would speak with the student regarding the issue.
Feb. 1
06:27 - Power outage reported at the Kenai Workstation. On-call crew notified.
06:53 - Verbal warning for Headlight Out issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
07:15 - Verbal warning issued for Taillights issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
07:20 - Verbal warnings for Headlight Requirement and Vehicle Registration issued at Seward Highway and Airport Road.
07:29 - Verbal warning for Headlight Requirement issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.
09:33 - Caller stated that he had a confrontation with a loader driver at the Seward Bus Line that morning. Officer responded.
11:44 - Individual requested a welfare check on female and her children. Officer contacted AST and OCS. All reported fine.
12:13 - Avalanche reported on Lowell Point Road. Public Works notified.
15:46 - Power outage reported at the Primrose area of the Seward Highway. Electric Department notified.
15:43 - Ambulance dispatched to Chugachmiut Health Clinic for a male subject who was convulsing.
16:08 - Poor visibility reported at the intersection of Hemlock and Seward Highway. The snow berm was blocking vision and the reporting party almost got hit. Message left at Alaska Department of Transportation.
18:50 - Snow slides reported on Lowell Point Road. Caller was advised that they would not be cleared until daylight.
18:50 - 911 misdial from Miller’s Landing. Reporting party from previous entry went and checked on them, and there was no problem. Soldotna Dispatch was advised of the call and road closure.
19:04 - Power outage reported in the area of Mile 19-20 Seward Highway. Reporting party advised that they saw a large flash and believed it to be the transformer in the area of Mile 19.75. Electric crew advised. Power restored at 21:56 hours. However, there were a lot of trees causing the lines to arc.
20:44 - REDDI report on an older maroon van in which a male driver had just left the KFT parking lot in the harbor after being advised not to drive by the reporting party. Information given to Seward Police Department officer and Trooper.
20:50 - Anthony C. Cordova arrested by Trooper after being contacted in reference to the above REDDI report.
22:58 - Dillon K. Roe issued a citation for minor consuming at AVTEC dorms.
Feb. 2
00:29, 00:33 and 01:54 - 911 hang-up calls from 2000 block of Dimond, U.S. Air Force. Busy signal on all call backs. Officers advised and they were unable to locate anyone in need of help. May be weather related.
01:31 - Individual reported two intoxicated males in causing a disturbance. Officers advised and they contacted subjects. Eric Leonard arrested on KTN Alaska State Troopers enforcement and transported to Seward Community Jail. The other subject was given a Disorderly Conduct warning.
04:03 - Individual reported a power outage at Mile 19.5. Electric Department notified.
04:35 - Earthquake, magnitude 6.9, 17.9 miles south of Vanuatu Islands.
05:30 - Individual reported that the power was out at Bear Lake. Electric Department notified.
06:55 - Soldotna Alaska State Troopers reported an avalanche north of The Wye.
08:54 - Abandoned 911 came from the Air Force Rec. Camp. Respondent on call back advised all OK. Officer advised.
11:01 - Seward Volunteer Fire Department received a call on their administration phone requesting assistance checking for carbon monoxide at Cliff View. Fire officer responded.
15:34 - Soldotna Alaska State Troopers advised the highway was reopened.
16:13 - Fire officer advised that the CO2 problem at Cliff View had diminished, but if there were any more problems to call the fire department.
17:41 - Individual reported that her Rottweiler got away from the house and if anyone called to contact her. He had stitches and bandages from recent surgery.
18:08 - Individual advised that the snow slid off the roof and broke off the main electrical box on the house, and there were exposed live wires. Electric crew was advised and responded. At 20:02 the problem was taken care of.
19:49 - Low water pressure reported by a resident in the area of Fifth and Madison. Water Department advised that they should turn on all faucets for at least an hour. The pipes were starting to freeze up.
19:50 - Multiple 911 calls received from the Air Force Rec. Camp. The manager and Elmendorf were contacted and a trouble card was put in with TelAlaska.
22:02 - Individual at Snow River advised that his power was still out. Electric crew was advised. Power restored at 23:35.
Feb. 3
08:59 - Individual went into Seward Police Department and spoke to an officer about his vehicle being hit in the parking lot at KFT in the harbor.
09:47 - Individual advised that he had lost his wallet the day before.
09:49 - Malfunctioning railroad crossing reported at Stoney Creek Road. Alaska Railroad was called twice about it. They were trying to get someone to fix it.
11:20 - Caller advised to contact Animal Control Officer about a subject who had his two dogs off leash on Fourth while walking them.
11:53 - Phones fixed at the Air Force Rec. Camp. Water had gotten into the box and shorted the lines.
12:11 - Individual advised that the road at Summit was open but the roads from Hope to Girdwood were bad with whiteout conditions. Also there was a tractor trailer overturned just north of the animal sanctuary.
13:34 - Diebold Security called and advised that they had a holdup alarm at First National Bank Alaska. Officers responded and all the alarms were checked and no problems found.
14:10 - Individual spoke with an officer about a Motor Vehicle Accident in which he had lightly bumped a vehicle in the Safeway parking lot.
17:32 - Individual reported a brown Bronco with orange pin stripes at the Safeway parking lot from which a female left the vehicle and went into the store. The male driver shouted something at her and threw a beer bottle at her. When she went into the store, she asked someone to help her and to call the police. He went into the liquor store side and returned to his vehicle. Officer located the vehicle. The driver had gone back into the store. Officer contacted the female in the store. Officer was unable to locate the driver in the store. Vehicle was left at Safeway. A message was left on the registered owner’s phone to call the police department if he still had an interest in the vehicle.
17:47 - Individual reported two intoxicated males at the Harbormaster shower room. They were falling down, urinating and would not leave. When the reporting party went in to take a shower, his wife called and stated one of the men had gone into the shower room. Reporting party requested an officer ask them to leave the area. He would contact the harbormaster in the morning. Upon arrival, officer contacted subjects. They both agreed to leave the area.
18:49 - Soldotna Alaska State Troopers reported a white Crossover SUV with a ski rack was driving southbound from Mile 10 and passing in a no-passing zone, causing the oncoming traffic to take evasive action. No plate available. Unable to locate vehicle.
19:00 - Individual reported a black-and-white Husky type dog with tags running loose around Sea Lion near the elementary school. Notified Animal Control Officer.
21:15 - Individual advised of a moose with a possible broken back right leg near the elementary school and electric substation area. Unable to locate the moose in the area.
Feb. 4
04:30 - Individual requested an officer for an intoxicated male at the Taroka Inn. Officer advised. Officer contacted the subject, placed them into protective custody and transported them to Seward Community Jail.
04:31 - Individual reported a cow and calf moose in the 300 block of Fifth sitting in their yard. Information passed to officer.
09:40 - 911 caller requested an officer to Bayside for an intoxicated male who refused to leave. Richard Dayton was in the hallway upon officer’s arrival and advised he was trespassed from the apartment indefinitely. Criminal trespass entered into APSIN.
09:51 - Individual reported that a City vehicle hit an electric/communications line at Fourth and Washington. Emergency contacts for GCI, Tel-Alaska and Electric called out. Later Public Works advised that the road between Fourth and Fifth, and Washington would be closed until sometime Monday.
12:18 - 911 caller requested an ambulance at Little Bear Mountain for a bleeding nose. SVAC/SVFD dispatched.
19:37 - AVTEC dorm attendant reported a minor student who was intoxicated. He escorted her to her room and requested an officer. Corinna Lucille Sheri Gray cited for Minor Consuming.
21:26 - Automated phone fire alarm for the Breeze Inn. Toned and cancelled. Employee called and stated a steam table in the lobby set the alarm off. All was OK.
23:07 - Citation for No Taillights issued to Kevin Nathaniel Miller at North Harbor between Third and Fourth. Verbal warning issued for Obstructive View Of Plates.
23:45 - Two 911 calls about a moose with a hurt back leg next to Kimberly Court Apartments. Officer advised. Officer advised that the moose looked like it had a hurt leg for awhile.
23:57 - A cab driver requested assistance with an intoxicated passenger.
Feb. 5
07:34 - Individual called to inform that she did not have hot or cold water. She just wanted to inform SPD in case there were other reports.
09:43 - Ambulance dispatched to Phoenix for a female who was not feeling well. SVFD/SVAC dispatched and patient transported to the hospital.
10:40 - Area-wide power outage. Electric Department advised that it was a problem with Chugach Electric and power would be restored shortly.
11:36 - Report that there was a wire down across the road in Old Mill Subdivision. Electric checked on it and found that it was a telephone wire. Message left on TeleAlaska phone.
13:24 - Snow slides reported on Lowell Point Road. Public Works advised and responded to clear them.
14:28 - 911 misdial from a cell. Callback revealed that the owner was shopping at Safeway and had the phone in his pocket.
16:43 - 911 hang up from an unknown location. Officer advised and callback yielded no answer.
18:27 - Individual stated that from his house above the lagoon he could see a dog struggling in the lagoon. Officer arrived on scene and reporting party had the dog out of the water and returned to the owner.
18:36 - Romeo Stefan arrested for Domestic Violence Assault 4 and transported to Seward Community Jail.
18:39 - Individual reported that the cars between Jefferson and Adams on Third were parked so that traffic was limited to one lane. Officer advised.
18:52 - Fire officer called over the radio and requested an ambulance to Phoenix. SVAC/SVFD dispatched.
19:00 - Case lost in computer.
19:38 - Individual claimed she saw an intoxicated male leave in a two-tone dark colored pickup in the Harbor Parking area going north on Fourth. Officers advised.
