The portion of the Seward Highway closed from mile post 38 to Girdwood mile post 90 due to avalanche activity reopened today at about 4:15 p.m., according to the Alaska Department of Transportation. The first avalanche occurred around 7 a.m. at mile post 98.5 of the Seward Highway, according to DOT spokesperson Ricky Feller.
