Seward Silvers A and B volleyball teams took their first win of the competitive season against Soldotna Maroon last week.

The first match of the day was Soldotna Maroon against the Seward A squad, with Seward losing 22 - 25 in a closely fought match.  The Silvers gained their confidence and won the second game in overtime with a score of 29-27.

The third game was played to 15 and Seward pulled the game and match with a score of 15-12.  The girls looked a bit scared and nervous taking the court, but in the end pulled off the match.

The B team played their first competitive match winning in two games against the Soldotna A team bench. Game one was a 15-18 win and game two 25 - 15.

This week the SWMS volleyball A and B teams travel to Soldotna to play Soldotna White at 4:30 p.m. and then Nikiski on Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Seward fans have Feb. 19-20 to look forward to with home games at the Seward Middle school gym beginning at 3 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.

KPBSD Volleyball Boroughs are held on Feb. 27 in Homer this year, and the Seward team have been the reigning Championship team the past three years.

We hope to add with a four-peat!
